How do I do that at home, without a smoker? Can it be done?

I've never smoked salmon myself, but doggone, my wife and I love it, and I do catch some salmon & steelhead pretty much every year. I just bake it in the oven or grill it on the ol' Weber Kettle.

How do I go about smoking salmon at home?

You could build one, a hot plate with some dry wood chips and a wooden box of some sort and some racks. Or just get one of these:

I have a Little Chief right now and have had a Big Chief in the past, the smaller one works athough I slightly preferred the bigger version.

If you don't have a smoker you owe it to yourself to get one!!!!! You can make one but decent components keeps you from really saving any money unless you build a really large one.

Electric is easier to use, I have two one for fish and another for meat. Ribs, brisket, roasts, jerky, home made bacon..... It goes on and on!

When you get one message me and I'll give you some brine recipes.

If you get a chance, post up your brines. I would really like to try a few of them. Scotty
