It is a really simple rule: Ask how much the gun costs BEFORE you pick it up and fall in love.
I want to treat myself and get a nice 1911 commander size in 9mm, was thinking a Dan Wesson or maybe really splurge and try to find an Ed Brown! well I have been on the search at the typical local shops and no luck, online search found one that may fit the bill an hour or so drive, so thought I would just go look at a place that carries a decent variety, some real high end stuff, but not known for getting a good deal so I typically try and stay away. Its nice being as they have alot of inventory everything out and not under glass(except the Cabot's) so you can have a good look, just no price tags . Well I thought I was safe, no dan wesson or ed brown 1911's, there was a few Wilson Combat, I looked around and didn't see anything that that really interested me enough to pick up. And there is was on a table with a few Korth revolvers and a Freedom Arms, wasn't quite sure what it was so simple and elegant looking. Turned out to be a Nighthawk Delegate and Wow! what a nice firearm, no I did not leave with it but, I really wish I didn't know it exists, for sale, in a place I can stop by during my lunch break.

Patrick, I think you should get it. Look at it this way, it is cheaper than a new truck and doesn't need a garage. It doesn't eat hay and leave droppings. No vet bills and it doesn't require a babysitter. Furthermore, it could prove useful. Finally, if worse comes to worse, it could always be redeemed for cash.

This is a great point!

Probably twenty years ago I turned down an outstanding offer from Nighthawk to buy one of their full-size 1911's at a special reduced price for officers who had been firing one at their demo-day... It was a lot of money at the time, and I really couldn't justify it. But goodness, what a great handgun it was and I really wish now that I'd bought it.

Hard to say, wife might still be mad at me all these years later, but probably not... ;)

Edited - seems to me that they had some sort of "lifetime rebuild" warranty on their 1911's too...

Well, i thought long and hard and a few of the responses really made me think

Hell just go buy it. If you don’t you’ll be 70 like me, wishing you had bought it while you were still working

Decided its not keeping any bills from being paid, or food from anyone's mouth. So why not, i do deserve it!
The new spotting scope will have to wait.😟
