A little update on Magtips. I had some left in the box and used them up today. They still shot well
It was 40* warmer today from when I worked up this load (38* vs 78*). Hybrid 100V in this load picked up 48fps on the average , that’s a little more than 1fps/1*.
I also took my Marlin X7 in 30-06 and chrono’ed the 175gr SMK load with Hybrid 100V. This load was more temp stable , it picked up 22fps on average 42* vs 78*. That’s 0.6fps/1* , not bad. This rifle doesn’t like the SMKs either. I’ve tried 12 different bullets and 7 powder over 460 rounds and the only combo it likes Berger 210gr VLD over 53gr of RL-17@ 2600fps.

, but that’s what I do. This caliber has really grew on me , I was able to pile up on components at very reasonable price. Either 100yds or out to 600yds it’s a joy to shoot.
