Had a 28 Nosler and 338 Lapua to shoot (not mine). So while I was setting up for that I decided to also try a few rounds of a new load with the BLR. 257 Roberts.
Enjoyed the time just out shooting even if all guns and loads didn't shoot 100%.
Tried some 100 gr Speers in the BLR since I got a bunch of those. Used IMR 4350 and went off Hodgdon's data figuring in the loss for the 20" barrel. I had a target speed of 2800-2850 with that bullet. Loaded some up at 46 gr's which is 1.7 gr's below Hodgdon's max.
Averaged 2875. The 4 shot group was .845 which I'm more than happy with, but I had a 5th shot flier that put the group at 1.75". Got some of those fliers with the 115 Nosler Partitions also. I might of discovered the issue.
The partitions seated terribly hard. I suspected it had something to do with that they were blems. These 100 gr Speer's today were better, but also seated noticeably abnormally hard. Those same Speer bullets seat smooth as silk in my 250 savage and 257 Roberts AI. I'm gonna swap out the expander button in either my 250 die, or my AI die.
