Trevor, I think you have alot of promise there. Pick your best group so far with whatever powder charge shot the best, and start turning in the bullet a 1/4 turn on the seating stem. See if it starts to pull that last one in.

I am surprised Jim didn't mention this as he is the one that taught me the deal. It works, just have faith. I wouldn't give up on RL22 either. I know it will shoot as well as the others will. Might just have to find it sweets spot. Load up a bunch of roads varied a 1/4 turn at a time. I would bet as you work back to 3.34" you will find something pretty good. You are getting good speed already, so it is guilt edged accuracy you are looking for. If that doesn't work, bring that SG to my house and I will help! Scotty

Depends on the die manufacturer, and now the date of manufacture maybe. Old data here:

it appears to me that you have reached a good, stable harmonic level with that load

+1! The cartridge has only gotten better with age, and in a drop-dead gorgeous rifle to boot! As O'Connor so eloquently put it, "a figger like Miss America, a disposition like an angel, and could bake pies like Mother used to make."

Congrats again on a great rifle.

Great load, that is excellent development work. That last quote from Sir Jack is knowledge  and he sure knew the 270 win.

Blessings,
Dan

My loads for 270 win:
130 bullets 59.5 grains to 60.5 grains of H4831 sc. Short cut is a faster than regular H4831.
Velocity 2950 - 2985 FPS very accurate. I can get less then 1/2 inch or the same whole on a good day. Primer CCI BR2, COL 3,295.
Barrel 22.5 inch rifle Sako 85 Classic

150 bullets, COAL 3,300, primer GM215 powder RL-22. 58 grains. Great accuracy again. Velocity about 2850 fps. The same rifle.

I found that RL-22 works better with heavier bullets. Another powder works great it is RL-17 with 130 grains. It was very accurate but I did not finish my tests with it yet.
I think I should get velocity over 3025 fps with 130 g. bullets and Rl-17 powder accurate.
For me accurate means less than 1/2 inch at 100 yards.
I hope this helps
