The 45-70 got here and she is ready.

That looks GREAT Fotis. Really nice set up on that rifle. I think mine will look similar to yours when I am through with it..

Pat, my rail is also held in by the rear sight dovetail slot. The XS mount is very solid.

Thanks buddy  ..I may sound crazy, but I always give about 50-75% of any kill to family and close friends  ..it's always been that way for me Jim...I just want a few good eats for myself, without being selfish  ..makes me feel good pal  ..Lou

And here I went and turned down a true Marlin Guide Gun, looking new, for $475. Even had it in my hand.

Sometimes good sense isn't as good as the wife thinks it is....

That is funny. Guys at Marlin owners dot com are paying premiums for non Remlins/Marlingtons....

I went out today and shot the Guide Rifle and my 444.. The 444 is a Marlin barrel, but a Rem receiver I think. While the action is much rougher than my Guide Rifle, it shoots really well, has nice wood on it and well, it shoots!

The stock is a little too proud meeting up to the metal, but overall, it isn't horrible. I would beat the bush to find a proper Marlin made rifle though. I think I got lucky with this one. It needs to be cycled about 1000 times to really work in, but it should be okay.

Thinking it'll get a Skinner Peep on it soon, but the iron's seem to shoot okay, for now. My Marlin Made 1895G is just such a better rifle though. Fit, finish and accuracy is very good, for what that rifle cost me.

I got lucky all my rifles are Marlins. In fact my 444 is a Microgroove.
