This is going to go for a good price!

If I wasn't broke right now, I might bid on that, even if it is a .270. A proper .284 barrel is only a phone call or e-mail away!

Shoot all those ones you have gathering dust Kurt! :p There will be plenty of these floating around for a while. I bet someone has a hidden bid that isn't showing right now that is well over the amount listed with that many bidding on it.

I just threw a $5 jump in price at it and took the lead. I really don't need it!

Well that was an accidental purchase! I'd just read the thread about G.B. not really having true auctions any more. So.... I went searching for "true auctions" and found this one where the price was still really good and thought that I'd share with the forum - for somebody elses good fortune! Then Mr. 257 Ackley has to chime in thinking that it's already been bid up by one of all the people watching it .:p So I says to myself "self you should test 257's theory". I bumped the bid by $5 with over an hour left and I'll be darned if I didn't win it. The down side is now I have to wait a month to order my 338Rum barrel. The up side is I now own a stainless M70 Featherweight in .270 - Good mountain rifle for about $650 shipped.

That's funny, you did get a very nice rifle though, the stainless featherweights are one of the all time nicest looking rifles out there.

Oh man....  Why couldn't it have been me?? I always seem to find the ones that look like a decent price and they are bid way past what shows by someone that really wants it...sorry

I agree! Don't let that one go Scott without prior notice! I have been looking around a little for the same rifle in a 325, but there seems to be slim pickin's. That 270 would be one helluva good mountain rifle. Congrats on it.

.257,
No worries! I'm a big boy and I don't do anything I really don't want to do. It's all good! 8)

Congratulations, Scott. It is a beautiful piece of workmanship. Shoot, I'll bet Joel will bid you up if you give him a chance! I do like the stainless and walnut Winchesters, though.

Yeah, let me know if you decide to dump that one (and Scotty doesn't want it). An M70 Featherweight is the 'proper' platform for a .270 anyway, not a 700.

Nice stick there. I wouldn't be upset whatsoever. Re-chambering it would be sacriledge tho.

There's a used 99% S.C. built M70 Sporter in 30-06 nearby that's lasted over two months at $625. I think it's a good buy and it doesn't have half the character that your FWT has. You got a bargain and a half.

Mike -
with the rifles, optics and shooting accessories I have bought in the past month, there will be no whimsical rifle purchases by me this year  . I am glad there isn't a significant other that I would have to try and justify a couple $4000 rifles to...yikes.

I hear you, Joel. Precisely such a situation arose for me this weekend. This acquisition of fine firearms is a disease.

I've succumbed to the siren allure of adding more firearms. Assuredly, it has become the summum bonum of life for most of us.
