Wyoming considers tag price hikes

I moved to Arizona back in 1979 and during the time I've lived here have drawn maybe six deer tags, two elk and zero antelope. I did a guided ranch hunt for antelope in 2009 and 2010 my first guided elk hunt on a ranch. I did do a few more elk hunts on that ranch, the last one in 2019. That first ranch hunt for elk was $1,800 plus license and tag fees That last hunt was $4,500 plus license and tag fees. That was for cow elk, hunts, not a bull. Bull hunts were $15,000 up. I had a deposit for aa 2020 hunt but a bad car wreck killed that one. Outfitter refused to return deposit and I haven't been since. I think he also lost is lease on that particular ranch as I don't see it on his web site.

I seem to recall MT raised their prices for tags. I might be wrong but I believe they didn't lower the price and instead added other tags.
Maybe someone can set the record straight

Looking a some regs from 2019 vs 2024 for Nonresident elk the price went from $905 to $1,048, I have not seen the 2025 regs yet.
They do have a nonresident native for people that were born in montana and still have a resident relative, 2024 price for that is half the nonresident price.

WI nonresident deer license is $200 , I guess that is a steal compare to other states.
Someday I would like to try for an elk , but it seems for nonresident western state priced me out.
Start accumulating preference points in the state(s) you want to hunt now. When the time comes to hunt, you will be poised to draw a tag.

They make it more complicated and expensive every year it seems.
Getting to be the rich man's sport.
They cut the deer doe tags in area I hunt in, from 250 tags to 10 tags last year. It is one of the areas they released wolves in, I'm guessing they are needing more deer to feed the wolves.
