Does leaving for Zimbabwe in 10 days count?

Where, how, what, when, why? Is it a concession? Free range or high fence?

I treat my venison like beef as well. My primary deer hunting area is a swamp so the fat picks up some of the aquatic plant flavor leading to it needing just a touch more attention to preparation than regular store bought beef or lamb.

Whereabouts is your primary hunting area that it requires an application for a doe tag? I assume the application is more to limit the number of hunters rather than to save the does?

New York is separated basically into two hunting areas.
The Northern Tier, and the Southern Tier. The Northern Tier is a line just above Onieda Lake running East to west.
Up there the deer numbers are pretty low ranging from 2-5 per square mile. So they try to limit the number of Doe taken in that area. Often times if your not a resident of the Northern tier you may not even be considered for a Doe tag, but recently they have been offerings some out to nonresidents.
All the deer I hunt in the north are considered “big woods” deer and do not have the option of agriculture to help their diets.
The deer in the south that we hunt are all off AG fields. To be honest I’ve never really noticed a difference in how they taste.

Ahhh. So just like here in Wisconsin. Our northern forest unit is also less densely populated with deer so they limit many of the areas to a buck only permit. Central and southern farmland zones though are packed with deer and you'll often get a doe permit or multiple when you purchase your regular buck permit.

I actually eat the deer fat. I know many people consider it not edible but I like it even though it doesn't melt as well as beef fat and is waxy. Whole fats are something I try to eat as much as possible of to maintain fitness.

the whitetails I've brought home , from different states , seemed to have pretty much tasted the same too , except for the ones from Kansas . we had a lease in Kansas that was huge . it was a cattle ranch that we hunted on . we often seen deer feeding out of the cattle troughs . these whitetails had a different taste . it was easy to use the Kansas meat in any recipe , and hard to tell it from beef .

We seem to have an overpopulation of whitetail here, so my goal will be 3 between the wife and I. There are I think 4 different subdivisions being built within 5 miles and a bunch of ground clearing within 3 miles as someone tries to sell about 75 acres of commercial land which was formerly overgrown with brush and other nice cover. My guess is all the construction has driven the population out my way, which is nice, but we can't support the new population density. Right now, my count is 4x bucks, 3 does, and 3 fawns. So, to be specific, this fall I'd like to harvest:
1x non-typical buck I've seen about for two seasons (not a very large rack)
1x doe in the 3-5 year old range
1x buck from the 3 new arrivals I've seen (2x8 point and 1x 10 point, all very well developed)

There is also one more doe without fawns which I want to give another year to breed. If I see her again next year by herself, I'll assume she's dry and harvest her.

Just hunting deer here this year as we didn’t draw MI Bear or Elk and WY Moose or Antelope.
We did hunt TX hogs in April and will be back next year.

Leave 8/14, hunt 8/17 thru 26, start way back on 8/27 with a 2 night stay/visit at Victoria Falls, back in USA on 8/31.
Hunting Nuanetsi which is a Conservancy Area so there is a perimeter fence, which is to keep the locals with their livestock out and slow down the poachers a little. @ over 400,000 acres (more than 1/2 the size of Rhode Island!) the fence really is not an issue. Primary Species is Cape Buffalo, Nuanetsi is known for Good Kudu and Nyala so will have or eyes open for each and pursue as situation allows. Also maybe a Bushpig, they are inexpensive and a euro mount would look good with my Warthog euro from my Botswana trip on the fireplace mantel.
My oldest Daughter is going with me as Non-Hunting Companion.
Will save most of the rest of the details for the Hunt Report which should show up sometime this fall. It takes me a little while to write those.

My hunting plans are up in the air. I say that because I have a rotator cuff injury and waiting on a MRI plus recovering from nerve release surgery.

I got my left knee fixed this spring and doing pretty good, so my hunting season should be un effected. I do have a rifle Elk Cow tag this season so I'll focus on that and Whitetail rifle / Muzzleloader.
