So tomorrow morning I will head down and pick up my Whittakers Special - Tikka 22-250 1/8 twist. I have some talleys and for now (just so I can shoot it) will throw a 3-9x40 zeiss conquest on it. (I am thinking a SS 3-9X will be its permanent scope down the road)
I want to use this as a LW back country coyote/wolf gun in the winter here in Idaho, but I think I am going to have my wife use if for deer this fall - she doesn't like recoil much and we are talking about 150-200 pound mule deer - nothing too huge.
I have 75 grain hornady match bullets to load up and practice with, but for hunting - for her and I, I plan to load 75 grain Swift Sciroccos. Does anyone happen to have any load data for this combo? I am thinking 3050-3150 should be doable. That would make one heck of a deer load for the under 200 yard shots my wife is comfortable with, and should do well out to 5-600 yards when its my wolf rifle.
