What is the difference in trajectory between a 7mm 160 gr. AccuBond at 2900 f.p.s and a 7mm 150 gr. Partition at 3025 f.p.s. when both are sighted in at three inches high at 100 yards? I'm curious as to this difference out to 500 yards. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using my favorite external ballistic software program called "Bullet Simulator" for these figures.

I assumed sea level, 59 degrees F, and scope centerline 1.5 inches above bore centerline.

The 150 gr. Partition has a BC of .456....3025fps

Software gives trajectories of 150 grain:

100 yds=+3.0"
200 =+3.2"
275 = 0.0"
300 =-1.7"
400 =-12.6"
500 =-30.9"

The 160 gr. AccuBond has BC of .531.......2900fps

100=+3.0"
200=+2.9"
265=0.0"
300=-2.5"
400=-14.1"
500=-32.7"

This data was retrieved from the RCBS Load ballistic program, I assume it is pretty close, I do not know for sure.

This data was using posted Nosler Ballistic Coefficients and calculated for standard atmospheric conditions and sea level elevation.

The 160 Nosler AccuBond has a B.C. of 0.531. When started out at 2900 fps and zeroed at 3.05 inches high at 100 yards, it has a zero range of 265 yards:

Impact is +3.60 inches at 150 yards
Impact is +2.91 inches at 200 yards
Impact is +0.88 inches at 250 yards
Impact is -2.57 inches at 300 yards
Impact is -14.12 inches at 400 yards
Impact is -32.63 inches at 500 yards

The 150 Nosler Partition has a B.C. of 0.456. When started out at 3025 fps and zeroed
3.04 inches high at 100 yards, it has a zero range of 275 yards.

Impact is +3.70 inches at 150 yards
Impact is +3.19 inches at 200 yards
Impact is +1.40 inches at 250 yards
Impact is -1.76 inches at 300 yards
Impact is -12.63 inches at 400 yards
Impact is -30.44 inches at 500 yards

Hope this helps, R F

Would either of you fellas know the energy figures for those two bullets?

Using the same figures as above, that is, a 160 AccuBond at 2900 fps versus a 150 Partition at 3025 fps the figures are:

Energy figures for a 160 AccuBond started out at 2900 fps:

muzzle = 2987
100 yards = 2690
200 yards = 2418
300 yards = 2169
400 yards = 1941
500 yards = 1732

Energy figures for a 150 Partition started out at 3025 fps:

muzzle = 3047
100 yards = 2700
200 yard s = 2388
300 yards = 2106
400 yards = 1852
500 yards = 1623
