Unsettling frame of mind

Looking forward to seeing how your 9.3 turns out. Very cool cartridge and really capable with modern bullets and powders. They say the Brit cartridges were for the more wealthy Brit explorers while the German farmers just crumpled food for the pot with the 9.3's...

I think you'll like it. Hard to beat JES for a good rebore and new lease on life for an old friend.

Thank you, I'm looking forward to it as well. I am finding it difficult NOT to bug JES or my gunsmith, so I settle for reading up on the cartridge and pondering scope options. I'm looking forward to playing with it, but am REALLY excited to have this rifle chambered in something I like, and the 9.3 seems to be very fitting. I expect this to be my primary carry rifle for hunting, opting for the 6.5 CM only when I'm expecting to shoot very far.

maverick2 you hit a nerve. There is a .340 Weatherby Accumark in my cabinet that has been carried on a few Elk hunts, but really was only "needed" for an AK hunt a few years ago. I thought about selling it, but then I looked at the Dall on the wall and decided not to.

Never have I met a person sad he didn't sell a firearm, but many that rue the day they did. I prefer to avoid sadness and recommend the same to you.

That seems to be the overwhelming sentiment... but it's still for sale... (I've even got a similar history with my H&H as you do with your .340...) I just can't stand to see something going unused (with little likelihood of that changing in the next 5-10 yrs) especially knowing that there's nothing this .375 H&H can do that the rifle I now prefer to carry (currently getting turned into a 9.3x62) can't do. Of course, this would all be moot if one of my good friends here would donate a nice Leica, Meopta, or Kahles scope to my cause, alleviating any immediate motive to sell ANYTHING, but that hasn't happened. (Maybe tomorrow...)
