Up Close and Personal

Mike

I had no "idea" that it was that big!!!!! Seeing the horns next to him really puts it in perspective, they are "huge". Thanks

His headgear was massive, Bill. I wouldn't have wanted to be the one carrying them out for any distance! There has to be some weight there.

That is some serious heartpumping action. I believe my knees would have been a knocking for quite some time after that shot!

Oh, yeah, that is some great footage. It would be difficult to hold the bow that long, and then be able to talk about it afterwards.

Bill,

This is the world record. Minimum for Alaska-Yukon moose is 170. Minimum for Canada moose is 136. Minimum for Shiras' moose is 125. This one was 249 1/8. Here's a picture of the rack after drying with Real Langlois.

What a brute!

He would be massive even with a rifle! When the arrow hits, it almost seems as if he was prepared to swing toward the shooter before high-tailing it. I am awed by their size.

Moose is the reason I got my 338 RUM. I love bow hunting but if I am going to go on a big hunt (outside MI), I am going to use a rifle.
Looking at that bull, maybe my new 416 Wby would be the ticket. :)

Ya' think? Your 338RUM will drop a moose right smart.

Your 35 Whelen and 280 AI would drop the biggest moose easily too Jim, but you need to use the 416 on something I guess :)

Ahh, we could always arrange for little Chili and his pea shooter to back ya up .. Lol

WOW! I have never been that close to anything with antlers.

I did call in a cow and calf elk one time. They came running to the call and I had to turn my bow so they didn't run right down my arrow. They knocked it off the rest and stepped on me as the ran by looking for their friend.
