I walked in to the Scheel's in Eau Claire last night as a guy was unpacking some reloading supplies. He had a case of 1lb cans of Varget. I grabbed one as he was unpacking, so there were 19 cans left. I am guessing they will be gone by the end of the weekend. I would have grabbed more but I have never used it so I just grabbed it to try it. I should have bought the entire case and sold it to you guys really needing it. (I would have sold it without trying to make money) I hope it works out in my .223 and 22-250. I might try it sometime with the 25-06 and 30-06. They had a pile of LR primers but no small rifle primers or .22 ammo. There was no handgun ammo in the store.

I've shot my way through several 8# jugs of it, mostly in .308's. Good stuff.

It is the schnizzle in my 22-250, and 308W and load it for family 223 and 7mm-08 rifles. Very useful in so many cartridges. Should have bought the case!!

Yep. That stuff is hard to get also. I was very lucky to get a 8lb. jug from Powder Valley.
Russ

I use a fair amount of Varget in .308 size cases and those built from the .308.

I have a pound but like you have never used it, yet... will have to try it in my son's .243.

It will work very well in that cartridge, Corey.

CC nailed it. Varget has been just as good over the years as RL15. Almost identical in burn rates and an excellent all around powder..

I ran those, just to give you a snapshot of the usefulness of Varget..

I love Varget for lightweight bullets in the 243 and 308. Has real promise in the AR with the heavy stuff. Worked very well in a buddies 22-250 with 50gr BTs.

Everyone knows how well Varget works in 308 family cartridges and 223, but it is what I use in my 06 with 165's as well! Varget is awsome! I still have around 4-lbs left.

Grabbed 6 cans and 1k Fed 210 primers. Also nabbed the last Zeiss Conquest 3-9×40. Add a couple sets of dies and scope covers and they threw in a free t-shirt. The reloading department was full of people! The factory ammo shelves were pretty bare though. Thanks for letting me know they had some supplies WT! I have been scrambling lately like everyone else. Sitting pretty good now though.

Wow, that was a good haul right there!

bbh,

You did well, indeed! I would have preferred a hat rather than a tee-shirt, but they were promoting the store in any case. It is good to see those from the forum benefiting one another.

They had a lot of LR primers but zero handgun ammo. All I needed was some powder and turkey ammo. I am happy you were able to get there. Next time just buy some stuff for me and leave it at the service counter.

Was back in Scheels a day ago and they had just received (10) 8lb jugs of Varget. They were $189.00 a piece, a little higher than usual but not a huge increase in price. They also had many bricks of primers. The sales manager said he had been promised they were due to receive some .22 LR ammo in the near future as well. I hope things settle down here in the coming months and the store shelves become stocked once again. Maybe I am just delusional???

Who knows. All my buddies hit Wal-mart at 0700 hours everyday for 22 LR ammo before they come to work. That is the time they unpack the ammo....if they have any.
