VX-6 or Z5???

That looks quite attractive, Joel. I'm certain I'll be keeping my eyes open for one.

I haven't done too much internet research on everyone that sells them on-line, but here are a couple:
http://www.eurooptic.com/premier-herita ... 11012.aspx

http://www.premierreticles.com/retailers/

The varmint model is the one I am looking at getting, but it seems to be a special order item with most of the retailers and internet providers. This model of the scope has exterior turrets for dialing as opposed to the hunter model that you have to take the caps off.

Are you getting serious on it Joel?

I am Scott. I need to move a NF scope out of the safe to justify buying it, but it is the top dog for me right now for the 6.5WSM. I am planning on building a 6X47 next year for p-dogs and yotes that will have the same scope if I can afford it. Their glass is the best I have looked through for a scope that has the ability to dial MOA consistantly and is light weight enough to go on a carry rifle.

Woody buy my vx6 with payments (Fotis' deferred payment plan FDDP) and be done.

Man, you better hurry up buddy! Elk will be bugling before too long!

The 6.5 is going to be the backup rifle for elk, and I doubt the 300 WSM will need any help out in Montana. I want it for deer in Minnesota though for the big ridge that is across the road from my hunting land. It is right at 1K across the bowl that was clear cut 4 years ago. I have seen several deer cutting a path across the far side at about 600 yards and plan on spending a day or two up there watching for a nice buck that we have seen in that area. Another year or so and the poplar will be too tall to see much traveling through down in the bowl.

Not to muddy the waters, but there's a 3-18 Z6 in the bargain cave at the Cabela's by me for $1800. Yes, you read that price right. I forget if it has a turret or not.....

There's also an STM spotter with the 20-60 eyepiece for 1200....

Just sayin'....

;)

Guess its time to put this thread to rest with what i have ordered. I was leaning hard toward the Swaro Z5. Looks like the Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44mm should be at the house in the next week or so. The scope was ordered from Kenton so it would come with the target turrets. A Premier Heritage or Swaro may go on the 338-375 build, but this Zeiss should work well on the 300 RUM. Thanks for all the help guys!

Nice! That should be a cool scope for the 300. I can't imagine it won't work really well.

No flies on the Conquest 4.5-14x44 scopes! I have owned (3) Conquests and still have a 2.5-8x32 Conquest which may be the toughest recoil tolerant scope that Zeiss ever made, according to them. The (2) 3-9x40 Conquest's reside with my sons. Since this Conquest is currently homeless, I am seriously considering putting it on my .340 Weatherby and forgetting it. The Conquest will never break or fail me!

Besides, I want to move the Kahles 3.5-10x50 scope from the Mark V to the FN Mauser, .257 Roberts. I have a matte finish Denver-Redfield 3-9x42 Illuminator on the FN, .257 Roberts and want a little more magnification, since I use this rifle for long range coyotes too. Maybe I will sell the Illuminator?

It seems as though the 8X Conquest and 9X Illuminator are actually pretty close in top end magnification, real world? and the Conquest has longer eye relief!

Nice choice Brian...it will be a great scope, especially with a turret set up for the 300 and the ballistics that you gave them. Looking forward to seeing this rig once it is all together. Not sure if I want to shoot it though...
