Wanted Texas Hog Hunt.

I have not worked up a good load yet. Took it out last week for the first time. Using RL22 I got 3000 - 3240 fps using different loads of 95 gr BT and RL22. Unfortunately nothing was under 2". Got to try other loads/bullets. The 100 gr PT and 85 gr Sierra BTHP is next.

Maybe, your 45-70 CB then! That would be a hog smacker! Some 400gr Speers and 43-46gr's of IMR4198 in WW cases! That will get you into hog killing territory! Scotty

I look forward to hunting with y'all!!!

Bob

This is the ranch.

I took this 250+ lb. hog last time at 11 P.M.

Fotis,

I can hook you up if you want to venture farther south around Utopia. I could fit you in our youth hunt in December. It is only $400 including lodging for both of you and you can take unlimited hogs and a total of three whitetail does. You are already a Posse Member. There is one spot left.

that is a good deal. I have seen hunts for $250/day with lodging, but the hunting was fairly suspect. The area is about 2 hours south of DFW. I don't have hogs at my ranch in texas, or we could do it there.

HP,

Yep, this comes out to $100 per day including lodging and the skinning and quartering of game for whitetail does and unlimited hogs. We try to do a "freezer filler" hunt each year and I work hard to try to make it as affordable as possible. The outfitter gave us a heck of a deal this year since we were adding the kids. We all want to get the kids out there anywhere and anytime we can.

Bob What are the usual ranges that they are seen?

I am asking so I can make an educated decision on the rifle I bring.

Fotis,

The average is about 75 yards. I have taken them here with everything from a .223 AR (neck shots) to my 375 H&H. I usually use my 7mm-08....surprise, surprise!
