I thought I would try some of these surplus powders. I will be starting to play with them either this weekend or around christmas when I have time. Calibers I will try them in are 257 wby w/115grn btips, 264 win w/130nab, 140 SMK, 30-378 w/180 & 200nab, 200SGK and possibly 7mm rem w/150nbt, 160 nab. I think the best results will be from the 264 & 30-378 which also work well with H870 & AA8700. Any suggestions would be appreciated, but I know I should reduce 10% since it's surplus.

for the 860 & 868, reduce H870 or AA8700 loads 5% and work up. and watch your tempature, those mil-surp ball powders are pretty temp sensative.
Just remember that ball powder runs pretty dirty till you approach max pressures.

My WC868 is Hotter then my WC860. On average WC860 is about 8% slower then H870, so that's why people often use H870 data for WC860. it's ok to back off a little extra when first working up a load with surpluss powder. it will help you build your database for future comparrisons. I've had very good luck shooting these powders as compressed loads. I've shot them in my .338 Win and 6.5 Sweed too. Velocities are on the slow  side, but standard deviations are in the single digits.
