Well I could not take it any longer so I put on the knee boots and went to the range. I made sure I had all the targets on the cardboard so I only had to walk the 100 yard trip one time. It was a nice 27 out with a slight wind at my back. It was good trip.

I was able to fire rounds 6-10 in the 6mmBR. I cleaned it between every shot and after shot #7, it got a lot faster. I did have a heavy bolt lift on the last two shots so I need to back it down for the next break in rounds.

First up was the 22-250 with Varget and 52gr Custom Comps shooting 4 shot groups. This was the first time shooting them and it looks promising.
33gr-.662"
34.5-2.616"
36gr-1.856"

I will work with the 33gr charge and see if I can get it smaller.

The new 30-06 Sauer 202 from my inlaws.
165 Partitions with H4350/4 shot groups
56.0-1.459"
57.5-1.706"
59.0-1.472"

I think I might try the 59.0 load again with a different depth. These were all .01" off the lands.

Last up was the 6.5 Grendel
2-3 shot groups-.530" and .524"
5 shot group-.934" with 3 touching and the last 2 low after I had to adjust the bag. I need to get a better set up for shooting my AR. I think if I could get more stable, I could get that 5 shot group down a bit.

It was great to get out and enjoy the afternoon.
Thanks for looking.

That 22-250, 33 grain, load shows a lot of promise.
I'd play with the seating depth on that one for sure. The Grendel looks pretty good too from what I'm reading. I'd try another 5 shot group without adjusting the bag and see what you get.

Nice you could get out. I'm wondering on the Sauer...With 3 Weatherby's I've owned and my 5 Sako's they all preferred a longer jump to the lands. None liked long COL's. Just wondering.

It's great you made it out even with the boots. You are also making good progress on you loads!!

If I were looking for a do all 30/06 load

180 NBT

59-60gr H4831

One of my /06's ran 59grs and the 180 @ 2737fps and the other went 2668fps at 20 degrees. Both shoot .5" - .75" consistently. A 180 around 2700fps won't bounce off of much that walks.

They also do well out to 600yds which the farthest I have shot them at steel.

I "used" to load 60/61 grains of the old military 4831, in WW cases, behind the 180 PT. I would be very careful working up to that load. I was a lot younger and more daring than now.

According to the pdf file I have:

60gr H4831 + 180 NPT - 57,900 psi
61gr H4831 + 180 NPT - 59,900 psi
62grs H4831 + 180 NPT - 62,700 psi
63grs H4831 + 180 NPT - 64,800 psi

I don't know how they got a bullet in there with 61gr, 62gr, or 63gr.

Nosler lists 62grs as max.

My go to load for a 180 gr 30-06 was 57.0 grs IMR 4350.
Great velocity and sub MOA accuracy.

I would like to keep trying the 165 NPT right now. This was the first time ever shooting the rifle and rounds I developed. I was happy with a 4 shot group under 1.5". Now I just need to work on it a bit before I try something else.
