Wondering who makes or made commercial 6.5X55 sporting rifles made on strong actions. I'm aware of Ruger M77, Rem 700 Classic and older Tikka and Sako as well as the Husqvarna 98's from long ago. Anything out there current? Thinking of selling something off and getting myself a nice sporter. Plan B would be to build one on a Savage or Mauser 98 action. Unfortunately the Tikka T3 I really like is no longer imported in this fine caliber.

Browning made a few recently, Zastava makes them but not sure if that is something you would want. I'm sure you could find a nice gun in the makes you have already mentioned with a bit of searching.

I had a CZ 500 Mauser action, Mannlicher stocked 6.5x55, 20 inch carbine sporter which was really a nice rifle. In fact when my oldest son saw it, it was gone in a flash, never to be in my gun safe again! It was/still is very accurate and can shoot 125 Partitions into a MOA.

Well how about Nosler?

The M48 Professional (and others M48 models) is available in 6.5x55 (#26248) and mine is among the best rifles I have ever owned...

Just sayin'

I think my brother in law has a new one in a Model 70 Featherweight in 6.5x55, that he bought a few years back ........................ he will sell anything but is sorta a pirate when it comes to prices on rare guns if you know what I mean

Howa is making them. I think you can puchase just a barreled action as well. I have the Howa/hogue stainless. Haven't had it long. Seems to be a very nice rifle.

TOO BAD, we still get them here in Cannada. T3's, Sako m85's.

Maybe ask your dealer, they should be able to import it in thru Beretta.

G'Day Fella's,

Polaris, I recently imported a near new Sako 75 in 6.5x55, from the US!
Sorry about that, I hope that wasn't what you had your heart set on!!!

FYI, I purchased this rifle off www.gunbroker.com

Hope that helps

Doh!

If I didn't have my 6.5x57AI, I would have the Swede. Highly underated (maybe under used or under appreciated be better choice of words) round here in the USA.

I looked into the CZs and they are affordable for me and well made but I really like the action on the T3. As this will be a light LR deer/antelope rifle I want to run full bore 6.5 SE loads so an M96 based rifle is out. I'll have to look into importing one from N of the border if I can't find one locally. I know a LGS owner who has done this before with some Sav 99s and Win 71s.

I picked up one of the Ruger No. 1 A rifles made for Lipseys a few years ago. They made 250 of those and they pop up on GB occasionally. I really like mine.

Unfortunately the only Nosler I can afford is the part that comes out of the rifle barrel... and maybe a ball cap too.
