Reading the new Winchester magazine which details all their new products for 2011 I came across an article on the new Power Core ammunition...they mention it's 95% Copper, 5% Zinc, just like the E-Tip, but without the CT coating, and polymer tip. Is this truly a version of the E-Tip and is Nosler producing it for Winchester?

Do you have a link to it? I just tried looking it up, but all I could come up with is Power Max? Scotty

I cant find anything on it either......

Is your winchester catalog made for the US market? it could be a foreign country catalog.

I don't have a link but the magazine was put out by Winchester for the U.S./Canada market. The entire magazine is Winchester based and goes over their new products, new packaging upgrades, and partnership with Nosler.

The ammunition is called POWER-CORE 95/5 and it's under the Super X brand. The pictures of the bullet look just like an E-Tip, minus the coating and tip.

Here are a couple of quotes from the article:
"The 95/5 is made from gilding metal, and that helps to reduce barrel fouling"
"This fantastic design is usually pretty expensive, but Winchester was able to reduce costs by eliminating the plastic tip sometimes found on copper solid designs and the coating found on other high-end Winchester bullets."

I'm thinking it has to be made by Nosler, but just wanted one of the moderators to confirm.

It does sound just like an ETip! Winchester has been putting out some really great ammo the past 10 years or so. I know their Winchester Supreme 140gr AB's for the 270WSM will shoot bug holes and it is FAST out of mine. I can't really better it at all by handloading. Scotty

What Winchester is describing is the Nosler E-Tip. I am pretty sure that Nosler is selling Winchester the E-Tip bullet.

Winchester loads the E-Tip, as stated in the ammoland ad. This particular bullet sounds more like a Hornady GMX than an E-Tip, however. It should be interesting to see. I suspect it is another in many changes we will witness over the coming few years as companies adapt to the pressure of demands by the green lobby.

Thanks for the confirmation JD338...sounds like a nice new option in factory ammo.

I am just speculating. I will confirm with Nosler and let you know for sure.
