Applied for my Wyoming pronghorn & mule deer tags again last night.

Hunt Wyoming about every other year, sometimes I let two or three years slip in between trips, but I try to not let that happen. Really enjoy the whole thing - the long drive east to there, camping along the way, sometimes doing a little fly fishing in Montana... Getting back into what's become familiar territory for me now. Stocking up on supplies in Broadus, MT, then out to the ranch for a few days of hunting. Greeting folks who have become friends. Lots of hiking while I hunt. Love seeing how things have changed, or what hasn't changed in my absence. It's different every time.

Sure hoping to draw those tags again. Thanks once again to Stephen Ashe, for introducing me to hunting the Great Plains.

If so, I'll likely just grab the good ol' .25-06 Rem 700, 6x Leupold & 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips again. Seems to work, every time. A few photos from past trips:

You do realize that Wyoming in a RED state Guy. So them democratic blue tips might not fly right here! LOL

Have fun and good luck, Guy.

I'm sure your 25-06 will serve you well. I bought a Box of Noslers 115gr. BT for my sons rifle should send some down range while he is in school in Italy it needs shot. I have not hunted WY in 25+ years I have to go back, I have been to a lot of other States but not WY. I'm sure you will have a great time. Good Hunting

Good luck in the draw Guy. I drew area 7 for elk, will be going the second week of November.

Guy I sure hope you are able to pull those tags!! The draw here in Saskatchewan is not until next month. Our group is in super A for all 3 of our hunts Moose, Mule Deer & Antelope !
We did not get drawn last year so we are sure hoping that this is our year.

Blessings,
Dan

I thought a 25/06 was only good on small antelope, and that a big one would get away from ya??
I put in for Kansas on the 1st and the tags had gone UP almost $120 since last year....... guess they know what they got there? Wonder if the 25/06 would kill a big mule deer ?? 120gr Speers going 3150fps?
Anyone??

I need to go clobber a big ol' elk or bear or something with my .25-06 Rem 700....

I know you're pullin' my leg - but dang - that .25-06 kills mule deer like lightning! (y) I go with the 115 Nosler Ballistic Tip @ 3120 fps... Yee Haw!

I get my second elk tag for this area every year. I really want to learn more about this this area. I usually hunt there around the holidays when I get grouchy. Great area! Good luck and good hunting. Make some calls to the game and fish. They can be real helpful.

Good luck Guy! I love Wyoming

I agree! I love Wyoming as well!
I never should've left. It's been a big hole that can't be filled in my life.
I sorely miss the the scenery, and miss my hunting buddies, and my fellow brothers in arms.
Nothing will beat the day when I finally return for good, and stay planted in Wyoming.
Too many things make sense there.
