With all the threads asking about what powders and bullets work in different cartridges it seems there are some powders that just work great and come up over and over again. I love to experiment with a bunch of different types of powder like many of you but I could easily get by with loading Varget, H 4350 and H 4831 sc and be happy. Big Game is pretty impressive and may make the inner circle soon. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to pare things down but those 4 seem to work very well in a wide variety of rounds.

How about you?

Varget...243 with light bullets, 308 with light bullets, 270 with light bullets, 30-06 with light bullets.
H322...45-70 with all bullets, 223.
H4350...30-06, 270, 243 with heavy bullets.

Power Pistol (this stuff meters great)...45acp plinking rounds
Unique...45acp business loads, reduced loads in various rifles.

The only "go to" powder I have is blue dot for the 10mm Auto.

I'm still working on loads for rifles. So far my .308 likes BL-C(2) and IMR 4064.

titegroup for 9mm and 380. meters well in my progressive press, burns clean, good velocities, accurate, and a little goes a long way. 1200fps in my 9 with 3.4gr.

varget works in almost every rifle I load for. I haven't been loading rifles long enough to have favorites, but I will watch this thread for sure.

Here are my "goto" powders:

Canister:
H4831
IMR4350
IMR4895
W748
W760
2400
AA#9
AA#5

Non-Canister:
WC844
WC846
WC852 (slow)
WC860
WC872
W296

If it won't shoot with something on this list, it generally won't shoot.

I have cut back on stocked powders. I use IMR 3031, 4064, 4350 and 7828 SSC. For revolvers: I use Titegroup and LilGun.

By Calibers:
3031" .204 Ruger
4064: .338 Federal, 9.3x74R
4350: .270 Win, .30-06
7828: 7mm Rem Mag

My go to powders are H4831sc and IMR-4831. Do use IMR4350,IMR-7828 and RL-22, however not as much as the first two. For the 30:30 H-4895 and IMR 4064.

If I had to I could make it with these

30/06, 7wsm, 300WM, 300Wby, 7RM, 260 Rem - H4831
.35 Rem, .358 Win, .243 Win, .223 Rem, 45/70 - H4895

.44 Rem, .357 Rem, 38 Special - A2400

IMR 4350 or Reloder 17--- Rifle
Alliant 2400 ---Cast Rifle and 44 mag
Trailboss --- reduced loads for everything

I would say H110, IMR 4350, RL 15, RL 19, RL 22, and Retumbo.

JD338

My first powder is IMR-4350 as I use it in 270, 30-06, 7mm mag. then it would be H-4895 & now RL-15.
Will likely be changing from IMR-4350 to RL-22 in the next while.

Blessings,
Dan

I've loaded and loved H4895 for so many decades that I dont even know why Im looking at other powders for the 350 JR.

AINT THAT SAD?

LOL!

God Bless
Steve

IMR 7828 does it all for me. I have been using RE22, and it is just about all gone. Less velocity out of the Weatherby with it, but I wanted to try something different, hence RE22. 7828 works great in the 25 06 and the Weatherby. If it works, why try and fix it?

IMR

4895- 257 243 308
4350- 257 243 308 280 6-284 6.5X55
7828- 280AI 6-284 6.5X55

That's pretty much all I use. I did pick up some 4198 for the 223 but I'm changing over to CFE223 which I will be using in that the 22-250 and possibly the 338-06. I try and keep stuff simple.

Varget .223 high power match loads
H4350 6.5X47 and 22X47 lapua
H4831 6.5-284 30-338 win
H1000 308 Baer 338 um 300 norma??
retumbo 338 um 300g bergers 300 norma??

IMR-4064...220 Swift & 50-55 gr bullets(nothing more to say)

H4831SC....25-06 & 100 gr bullets(most consistent powder I've ever used)

RL-25....257 Weatherby & 115 gr bullets (provides awesome combo of speed and accuracy)

IMR-7828ssc....270 Weatherby & 130 gr bullets (provides awesome combo of speed and accuracy)
