Talk to me about VihtaVuori

@Blkram have you tried the numbers with N565? It is an excellent 6.5 PRC powder.
With VN565, the 6.5 PRC will be as follows:
  • 140 gr AB: max charge of 60.0 gr for 3058 fps
  • 142 gr LRAB: max charge of 59.3 gr for 3036 fps

So not the same velocity potential as 560, 568, or 570. But until tried, won't know what the accuracy potential will be. And I will have to acquire some to try...

Ran the QL numbers for the 280 Rem tonight...and 270 WSM.
In the 280 Rem, with pressure up to 65K psi, max should be 61.6 gr of N560 for 3109 fps with the 150 gr BT or AB. (This is 45 fps faster than the max with Re-17, but uses 6.7 gr more powder to achieve this. Compared to other VV powders, this will potentially produce the best velocity.)
That is pushing it into 7mm Rem Mag territory!
Will have to see how it shoots in my Rem 700...

In the 270 WSM with the 140 gr AB, 68.0 gr of N560 will achieve 3216 fps in the 23" barrel of the Browning X Bolt All Weather at just under 65K psi. This is just 19 fps faster than the max load with Magnum powder, but uses 6.2 gr less powder.
N568 will produce a little more velocity (3249 fps) with a 75.5 gr charge. (I would need to acquire this powder to try.)
N570 will produce 3285 fps with a 76.6 gr charge. (I have this powder on hand.) This will potentially produce more than 200 fps gain over the factory ammo (which produces 3073 fps and 0.565" groups in my rifle), and drop 5.2" less at 500 yards with a 200 yard zero, while retaining 182 fps more velocity and 255 ft lbs of energy at that range.
Will have to see how these powders perform safely up to max in my rifle...and which will produce the best accuracy.
My buddy played with n568 in 6.5prc. Found it to be kind of a dud. He got way better results with n560 and n565. He ran out of case capacity to get the expected performance. Maybe it'll work better in 270 wsm, but I would go n565 or n560 well before n568.

I have a couple pounds of N565 to try in my 6.5 & 7 PRC's. N565 has consistently been getting rave reviews for accuracy and velocity in those cartridges and others. It has a decoppering agent and is suppose to be temp stable. IIRC all their newer powders have the decoppering agent.
How were your results in the 7PRC with the 565 or 560? And were your results, how were the accuracy nodes compared to the H-1000?

Guys, the n565 powder charges usually run the same as H1000. For comparison. It is temp stable., Usually 50-70fps more velocity than H1000.
568 normally needs a fairly roomy case to hit pressure, for me that’s been around 2grs more than 565/H1000. Also temp stable.
570 will get all there is to get on the chronograph, sometimes a drop tube is needed for its bulk. It erodes faster than anything I’ve ever used, fire cracks quickly, but will run tight groups/ES. Stable and consistent speeds. Performer with heavy for caliber bullets for sure.
Enclosed is a chart, the write-ins are QuickLoad information.
I’ve tried 555 a little, speed and ES were great.
560 is fast and hot but isn’t stable.

Hope this helps.

After reading reports on the VV powders, I may be tempted to try the 500 Series for my 6.5 x 284. Currently running the 143 ELD-X and H4831SC at 2893 fps using 52.2 grains. My speeds would not be in sync with book max speeds, reason for working up to pressure and backed off half a grain.
Seems the 500 Series has potential to get 2900 fps easily.

I too enjoy working with the VVpowders an have really had good results .

n 130-133 for 222
n 140 and 540 for 308 and 22-250 and 243
n 570 for 257 Bee
n 560 for 300 win mag and 257 Bee
n 555 with 30-06
have n 150 and 550 but seems like above calibers preferred the listed powders

I use;
N570 in 300rum with 230gr Bergers,
27 Nosler with 140gr Nosler Ballistic Tips,

N565 in 300wm with 200gr Hybrids,

N550 in 308 win with 168gr smk,
6.5 Needmore with 140gr Custom Competition and I'm trying it in 277 Fury with 140gr Sierra Tipped Game Kings.

N140 in 223AI with 73gr ELD,

N160 in 260 AI with 140gr Barnes Match Burners,

N165 in 6mm Creedmoor with 112gr Matchburners,

What cal and bullet were you reloading for that the 560 wasn't giving you stable readings?
