    140AB 7mm Mauser 2940FPS

The maximum load in Nosler #6 shows 2892 fps. Maybe you have 130 gr bullets? The 7mm WSM will do 3295 with 140's.

    Do I need a Kimber .257 Bob???

Your way off by claiming the 257r will do near 4000 fps with a 75 gr! Hornady #9 shows a maximum of 3500fps! Overall the 257r is too big for varmints and too small for deer. Best for nothing. That's why it's dead! However it's a rifle cartridge and some like it so that's nice!

    Do I need a Kimber .257 Bob???

How can the 257 Roberts get "upwards of 4000 fps" from a 75 gr bullet when Hornady's #9 manual shows a maximum velocity of 3500 fps? I would have to pass up too many shots with the 257 Roberts. It just does not have the power of regular cartridges for killing power, penetration, wind drift or...

    Do I need a Kimber .257 Bob???

While the .257 Roberts has been a topic with us rifle aficionados for decades it never really caught on and is pretty much obsolete. You won't find ammo easily for it in stores. None of the 57mm cartridges have been all that popular because they don't fit the actions made today. The Kimber...

    New rifle build ideas

laylandad, Consider a better designed action if your spending the time and money for one to be assembled from selected components. The 700 is an entry level cheap design. Consider a CRF M70, Commercial Mauser etc.

60 grain partition from CZ 527 18.5 in Barrlel 1in12twist?

Unless your a tiny child starving to death may I suggest that you use a real gun! Real men shoot guns that will take the game in a quick humane way.

    243 Win 85gr TSX

The mono bullets are the poorest killers of deer. Bullets that fragment yet of course penetrate are more humane as the kill faster. However if you must use solid bullets then it seems you have no choice.

    What is your idea of.....

The ideal rifle depends on what we like in a rifle and where we hunt. Even then there are many good guns and to each his own. I started out in the 50's with a 722/222 which was a very poor rifle. It was weak, heavy and clumsy. It's gone! Next was a P17 Enfield 30-06 sporterized. Excellent...

Win 70 super grade in 7 mm wsm

The price is way too high now. Of course if you just have to own then thats the fun of guns. Keep in mind that the fancy figure on the other side of the stock is not up to that on the side we look at most. I had a new M70 SS/Syn Classic in 7mm WSM as I like the round. While it shot well at...

    Stuck Case removal?

You could push the cleaning rod through the case and screw a brush into it that will stick inside of the case. Don't you hate handloading those belted cases?

    7mm WSM/Rifles

My first 7mm WSM was a SS M70 that showed erratic accuracy. It also had an out of round chamber. That really bothered me so I sold it. When the Kimber Montanas came out in the WSM's I got one in 270 WSM as I knew the 7 WSM would not make it. Never the less I still had to have a 7 WSM so I...

    358 Win

I have loaded for and hunted deer and black bear with the .358 Winchester since 1966. I have four rifles so chambered. I loaded the 200 gr Silvertip for decades with IMR 3031 until they stopped selling it as a component. I switched to the 180 Speer and loaded it with 4198 and other powders...
