Not specifically with the 180 A-Frame but my old buddy uses 72 grains of 4350 with ABs and PTs. Shoots so darned good. I know I always look there first after seeing how his shoots.I have an ample supply 180gr Swift A Frame for my 300 Win Mag for moose season. I have IMR 4350 and Reloader 22 powder for reloading !
Anyone have a special recipe? View attachment 25761

Yes settled on 76.0 of RL 22 spot on !R22 with 180 should provide a good accurate and fast load somewhere between 74-76 grs. (75-75.5 is often a good spot) work up.
IMR4350 and 70-72 grs should also be a good area. Guessing it ll be slightly slower fps wise than R22 but should provide good accuracy.
Good luck.
Damn, no Caribou this year?Back from the moose on the 10th Sep ……hunted the first 10 days of the season and bad weather clouded us in above treeline. I had bulls in both valleys beside me. Cows just going into heat and bulls getting excited. Had an easy 400 yard shot at small bull and shot right over his back just before he went back down into canyon. First game animal I have missed in 50 years of hunting since I was young teenager. Back home now and dreaming of next year hunt.
40 mile caribou heard outside town I don’t even think they opened the season since the herd was close to the road on the 10 Aug.Damn, no Caribou this year?
Yes the Steese Highway only goes to circle because you hit the Yukon River you make a circle. Already had snow in Sep !I can remember hunting them with my Dad in the early sixties, it was like going shopping. But then the road only went to Circle. Hope you have a good winter.
Dad got stationed at Ft. Wainwright when it was still Ladd Air Force Base. Mom and the first three of us arrived in sept. We had flown from Chicago to Seattle got on a bus to Ft. Lewis and then took a military transport to Alaska. When we left Chicago it was about 90 degrees and 90 percent humidity. When we Landed at Wainwright Dad and his buddies rushed to the plane with blankets because there was a foot of snow on the ground.Yes the Steese Highway only goes to circle because you hit the Yukon River you make a circle. Thank you for your service! That was a few years ago !
I was stationed at Fort Wainwright in 1992 and returned again in 1998 and never left Alaska since except for tour in Iraq OIF2. Retired now and still here ! Dark and Cold just wish it would drive out the Democrats pushing California politics onto Alaska !
