GB300wm and His 338 Wby SS Vanguard

That's a nice looking Winchester. Is that your 338? You're right too about brakes. They do allow you to focus on the target without thinking about the pounding heading your way. If you're like me, I'll go through 25-40 rounds per range session. My 338 was giving me headaches and my groups were...

    My 2 new "Bees"!

Really nice pop. Those will go well with the rest of your collection. Those 257's are really sweet.

GB300wm and His 338 Wby SS Vanguard

Thanks guys. It would really be an elk hammer. Maybe one day I'll be able to make an elk hunt. The vias style brake is nice. It has ports to channel blast and noise out the front of the rifle.

    pick my bullet 257 wby

Don't sell the 80 grainer short. They will really hammer a deer. I do believe from testing that the ttsx will open more reliably than the tsx. My testing has proved that to me and it makes sense that the plastic tip initiates expansion and that's what I'm seeing. I've never broadcast this...

    7 mm. WSM

Scotty, the 338 is really shooting well. Really well. The barrel is a little slow, but the accuracy is spot on. It really likes barnes bullets. The 210 ttsx's are cutting ragged holes at 100 and under 1/2" at 200 consistently(2"@300). This rifle has become my favorite and is a pleasure to shoot...

    7 mm. WSM

You're right on availability. I found one in Browning, but it has a 23' tube. All other manufacturers just list the 270 and 300 like you stated earlier.

"I heard with that kind of speed the animal actually dies before you pull the trigger Laughing Laughing Laughing" And that's all the way out to 400 yards....

    pick my bullet 257 wby

Go with the one that shoots in your rifle and the one that you have confidence in. They all kill and the new thing with the 257 bees is the 80 grain ttsx. This thing at 3850 kills like lightning. On deer size game, any of the above will work. As stated earlier, Mr. Weatherby made this caliber...

Sav. Precision Hunter or Wea. SUB MOA TR

I'm confused here guys. Savage Arms, Westfield, Ma. Weatherby, Inc., Paso Robles, Ca. Which one of these two are not american companies and do not support the 2nd amendment? Just curious

    45/70 w/ 425gr Piledriver JR's

Thanks for the great advice Guy. I do have a 1 piece leupold base and rings with a 2.5 x 8 scope. I will do that as I was stumped as to what exactly to do about the issue at hand. I'm guessing that I need to shim the rear of the base a few thousands. Any suggestions on how much?

    What MV for deer? .243cal

My daughter's rifle has a 20" tube and we're shooting the 95 bt at 2750 fps and it slams deer out to 200 yards, which is far enough for a junior. No problems encountered as all shots were pass throughs and 3 of the 4 were drt and the other going 20 yards. Good enough for me.

    45/70 w/ 425gr Piledriver JR's

I have some 430 grain trueshot bullets that I shoot in my 450 guide gun. I've tried several starting loads and I'm seeing 1700 fps with excellent accuracy with all of them. Bullets touching at 50 yards. 1900 fps is in reach. I never stoked them up anymore because I'm dealing with a scope issue...

Nosler .243 BT on TX game

I've witnessed 3 hog kills with a 243 and the bt did fine in all three cases. One was a 250 lb boar that my buddy shot broadside in the shoulder and dropped him. I wanted him to shoot a little back, but the hit was square in the shoulder plate. To my amazement, the little bt exited the offside...

    25.06 help!

I concur with most. Before giving up on the accubond, move to a faster powder since you've tried the slower ones. My vote is for 4350 and I would lean toward the IMR version since it is a tad faster. Also work up since a max charge may not work for you.

    45 acp reloading oddity

Comp shooters typically use the cases with the small primer because the logic here is more consistency. Small primers tend to be a little more consistent and in their world, it makes a difference.
