    223 WSSM ACCURACY PROBLEM

Laker I basically picked H 414 because it is my favorite in my 22-250. For the powder charge I used the new nosler manual. I wound up 0.5 grain below max. If your loading alot of rounds H414 meters great.

    223 WSSM ACCURACY PROBLEM

I was recently given a M 70 coyote in 223 wssm. I chose to go with the 55gr. ballistic tip because of the large case capacity and I believe these have a 1-10" twist. For powder I use H 414. When I approached maximum listed charges I also had sticky bolt lift. After backing off a little and...

    25-06 vs. 280

Mark another one down for the 25-06. Have used one since I was 15, which makes 20 plus years. Deer, antelope, and my 4th biggest bull elk. Used the 120 partition until the intro of the 110 accubond. To me the 25-06 and 280 have alot in common. By that I mean most people own one because they...

    Favorite 25-06 Deer loads ?

110gr. Accubond and RL22. Chronographed @ 3100fps out of a 24" barreled Ruger No.1 AH and 24" barreled mauser. Used this load on several deer and antelope with complete satisfaction.

Who has an Elk Rifle, but has never used it for Elk??

I bought my 300 win. mag. specifically for elk and am glad to say it has been used just for that on a number of occasions.

25-06 - which bullet for Kentucky whitetails?

As stated above the 110 accubond is hard to beat. In the past I shot 120gr. pt's. Since having switched to the 110 accubond I have shot a few deer , then an antelope in New Mexico last weekend. Penetration will not be an issue. All I can say about expansion is based on wound channels...

    Custom rifle questions

I will second Kevin Weaver in Peyton Colorado. He barrelled a DWM mauser action for me with a #2 Shilen barrel in 25-06 Rem. (I did the stock work myself). I could not be more pleased. It shoots sub 0.5" @ 100yds and 0.9-1.2" @ 200yds. He does wood or synthetic, basically what ever you want...

whar powder to settle on in my 25-06?

I have been shooting and loading for the 25-06 with the 110gr. Accubond alot lately. So far RL22 is the winner. 200yd. groups range from 0.9-1.2" depending on weather conditions. Chronograph readings are averaging 3070 fps. I feel like I could push this a little but don't see a need. My...

    7mm vs. 300 win mag

Have to say 300win.mag for me. Been my main rifle since 1994. 165's for deer and 200's for elk. Shot alot game with this rifle including several elk. The 200 partition is my go to bullet for about everything now ( even used it on two antelope). My brother has used the 7mm Rem.mag during this...

.300 win. mag. Pros & Cons

Just started my 12 season with the 300 win. mag. by polishing off an antelope at long range in NM a couple of weeks ago. So after all this time with wt. deer, mule deer, elk, antelope, and pigs taken with the 300wm. All I can say is there are no "cons".

    ACCUBOND PROBLEMS

I Have so far shot two elk with 180gr. accubonds (300winmag. 3050fps). A large cow and a nice 6x6 bull . The 180 AB is just as impressive on game as on paper. I shot the bull in the chest then he turned away. The next shot broke the pelvis and I found it under the armpit. I recovered both...

The one MAGNUM gun for it all

After 11 seasons its the 300 win. mag. hands down. 1. Hits elk hard. 2. Shoots farther than I can. 3. Ammo widely available and reasonbly priced. 4. Reloading components the same. 5. I can handle the way it hits me. 6. Plain and simple confindence in what it will do after seeing 30 or so animals...

    180 Accubond/.300 Win.mag

I have to agree with remintonman. I shoot the exact same load in my 300 win. mag. (chronographs 3050fps) 26"barrel . Have so far shot two elk. A large cow and a nice bull . Good accuracy <.75" or so. The 180 AB is just as impressive on game as on paper. I shot the bull in the chest then he...

Newbie Hunter look'n for a combo load.

Mr. Dean Accuracy, point of impact, on game performance, ect were uneffected. While i wouldnt use side cutters, gently filing worked fine. As far as accuracy being affected what ive seen written on the subject indicates that the little tip is to far away from the so called center of gravity of...

Newbie Hunter look'n for a combo load.

Mr. Dean I ask the question about the difference between the regular partition and the protected point a couple of weeks ago on this forum. Basically, the protected point lacks the little lead nose. I have shot it side by side with the regular version and just can't tell a difference in...

Newbie hunter looking for a combo load.

Mr. Dean I have also shot the 300winmag for about 10 years and have recently had my Model 70 rebarreled after about some 1100+ rounds. So like you I have done alot of shooting lately. My experience over this time mirrors rick smith and jd338. RL22,H4831,and IMR4350 have all given good results...

.30cal partition vs. .30cal partition protected point

not really concerned with the bc at all just curious. my experience is like yours. animals dont read magazines, books, or do theoretical math problems. yes, i have rolled noses straight more than once or for that matter filed them off when i ran out of protected points. i have considered...

.30cal partition vs. .30cal partition protected point

mshaffer do you have any thoughts on the BC of this bullet and how it's trajectory compares with the regular version of this bullet?

.30cal partition vs. .30cal partition protected point

My question is this. Other than the lead tip. Are there any other differences between these two bullets dimensionally, or otherwise? If not does the lead tip really make that much difference in the B.C. ? Looking at the published B.C.s and trajectory doesn't really match my experience shooting...
