Hey FJ, if you are ever in need of 165ABs or 150ABs, send me a PM, I have lots of 2nds in those 2 bullets, my -06 loves the 180AB/ET bullets so I do not have a rifle to load these bullets for since I sold my 308 Win. Bonus, we live in the same city as well.
Probably take out the 300RUM using 200ABs and the 375RUM using 260ABs for a nice bull elk to mount on the wall. I still have meat left from last year so I'll be very picky on the bull - if I don't see a decent (for me) bull, it isn't going to hurt my feelers if I don't shoot anything. I love to...
I'll initially start with around .020 off the lands or what will function in the magazine. Find the powder charge that gives me the best group size, then start seating the bullets .005 deeper from the original depth and shoot three shots per depth.
For instance, my RUMs are maxed at 3.670" by...
That's why I strictly go by accuracy when I develop a load for my rifles. If I get a nice tight group size that satisfies me for that rifle, the velocity is what it is, period. Of course I don't hinder myself, I start with a powder that has the best potential for making good velocity.
Probably the same writers that froth at the mouth about velocity and never or hardly mention anything accuracy. I still like the phrase, "Velocity is nice, but accuracy kills".
I use to have access to the "National Fire Protection Agency" code, but I do know that there are limits as to how much powder an individual can have in their residence and how much powder a business can have. Under a certain weight, it can be left on normal shelving, above a certain amount it...
Well, the individual I'm doing this for got OK results from 71gn of IMR 4350. I set them up using Fed 215M, Win brass and a COL of 3.360. The 71gn gave a little more than 1 MOA. I'm going to load up some 72gn for him to try and go from there.
I agree, I haven't developed a load in a number of years. All my rifles are set up and I don't see the need change what works and what I'm familiar with. I thought about giving the new long range ABs a try, but then went back to what I just said, why change when what I have works for my needs.
I would size them before use. I had an issue with virgin Nosler brass loads shooting the same as 2nd fire brass. I noticed the bullet took a little more effort to seat after FL sizing and the group size changed significantly between the 2.
