    Oregon 2013 Elk Hunt

Thanks SJB. I really feel the need to try although my wife is not in the least bit wild about the idea of processing my own game. I already have a nice grinder from Cabela's and really need to put it to work.

    Oregon 2013 Elk Hunt

Excellent job with the meat hanging. How long do you age each animal before you cut it up? I have been taking my animals to the processor except for the back straps that I steak out my self. This year I began boning most of my animals out (most processors charge $50-60 to bone per an animal)...

Nice buck. Excellent shooting and great report. One of these days I hope I find a buck like that.

This gives anti-hunters a lot of ammo

That is a shame. I can see the headlines now... :(

    Nice Winnie!

Very nice looking rifle Oldtrader. I had a friend, several years ago when I was an early teen, who had one like that in 375 H&H. He offered to let me shoot it but back then I did not have the intestinal fortitude. Especially after I saw it slap him around. Sure wish I could shoot it now.

    Nice Winnie!

Last year I was a the local range. A fellow there was shooting a 460 Weatherby  . I walked by leaving a trail of drool from my bench to his. He asked me if I would like to shoot it. I was ecstatic. I took a death grip on the rifle and touched one off. I shot it four times and was...

    Bear Bratwurst!

Sounds excellent Guy. Just received by bear back from the processor. I had some brats made as well. Think I will have to follow in your foot steps in a few days.

    Lead free?

Thank you dubyam. I like the looks of the mono-flex tip. Looks like production has been "suspended." Hopefully they will continue with it.

    Lead free?

    TRUE

Do it yourself Shoot and See Targets

Nice! I'll have to try that at the local 200 yard range

    Lead free?

I have an old Win in 30-30 that I want to reload. But after reading all the info on the 45-70 here, I would love to play with one. I saw the Barnes Busters but would rather have a bullet that opened. I also saw the TSX but was concerned that a rifle might not like one particular bullet which...

    Lead free?

So as I am sure most of you know in 2019, Ca will be lead free. I have four years to get out of here. But, in the interim, does any one know of lead free bullets to reload for lever actions??

Do you like to do it standing or sitting?

I can sit on a tall stool or stand. Most often I stand. I set up my bench at a height that I don't have to bend...I am 6'5"

    In two days...

Thank you. In some ways, not getting a buck right away is a very good thing for my son and myself. It is an excellent lesson in patience. We have our "easy" hunts as well with the antelope. But the time that we spend together is priceless no matter what happens.
