    I'm going crazy!

A few years ago, I was 45 minutes away when I realized that I had left the bolt for the Weatherby on the kitchen table. I will be elk hunting starting Tuesday, and the whitetail and mule opens Wednesday. Be like Santa, make a list and check it twice, because MURPHY'S LAW ALWAYS WINS!

    25-06?

I load 120 grain Speers for a buddy that uses his 25 06 for moose and elk. He hasn't lost one, but also, he waits for a perfect presentation before he fires. I use a 270 Weatherby magnum on them, and as already stated by Guy Miner and Elkman, they are tough animals. If you screw up, they will...

    Pro's vs Cons 257WBY vs 25-06

The 25 06 will do all that you ask of it, and more. IMO. a 243 is a varmit rifle. The 257 Weatherby is a fantastic offering. It is also a barrel burner. A buddy is on his 3rd barrel, and is going to change to a 300 winmag. The new barrel has baout 800 rounds through it, and is already showing...

    My 2 new "Bees"!

That 378 has me drooling all over my keyboard. I am contemplating either another deluxe or lazermark in 270 bee. I like the carving on the lasermark, but am wondering if it might get a little hard on the paws after holding it all day. Enjoy your new toys.

    Remington Customer Service

I have had the same problem with Remington. I bought a new 700 stainless synthetic DBM. It sat for a year before I took it out to sight it in for deer and elk. I have a few other toys that I played with and was in no rush to set it up. I hung a Leupold on it in the fall, and went up to the range...

    25.06

IMR 4831 is the greatest powder there is for the 25 06. Excellent accuracy and velocity. 100 grain bullets really shine in the 25.

    Single Shot vs. Bolt Action

Get the #1. You'll love it! I know that I do.

    tell me why

Don't worry about the 150 grain powerpoint. If they will shoot well, they will floor an elk.I am reloading the old 130 grain silvertips, occasionally, as I have a pile of them. They make a complete pass through. If you are not confident, get a box of partitions, and the problem is solved.

    Got some bullets

I loaded the 275's in mine, and I found that they wouldn't group until I loaded them hot. Think that you will like them.

    .270 winchester

I have used the 270 Winchester on elk at 250 to 300 yards with the 130 grain silvertip handloaded warm. They were broadside shots, and 2 were a complete pass through. 1 bullet was recovered under the hide on the far shoulder and weighed in at 93.7 grains. The lungs were mashed, and they didn't...

270 Weatherby Mag with Nosler Partition 160gr SSP.

Welcome to the forums.Good caliber choice.I have been shooting the 270 bee for a lot of years, but have never tried the 160 grain.Didn't figure that I needed them. I prefer the 130's and 140 grain Hornady boat tail over a stiff charge of either IMR 7828 or Reloader 22. Haven't found a critter...

    What tags have you drawn?

I drew multi tag whitetail doe, multitag mule doe, mule buck, and across the counter whitetail buck. I keep a couple for myself, and give the other deer to people that are too old, or are too crippled up to be able to get out there. Good luck to everyone.

That's sweet, Guy! Glad to see another #1 fan.

    Looking at 270s.

I'd jump on the #1, and never look back.

Man.... I love Ruger #1's here is my new one

That's a sweet one Pop! It would look real nice hanging next to mine, for sure. If it gets lonely, send it right over!

    med/big bore - ridiculous?

You'll love the 375 H&H. I sold 3 of them, and am still regretting it. They don't tear up a deer or bear or moose anywhere near as bad as a 30 06 or 300.They kill like the hammer of Thor, and are a lot more pleasant to shoot than a 338. If you are in an area where there are some real...

    Rock chucks meet the Marlin!

Nice lookin' toy there, Guy! Twin to mine. I have a 3x9 on mine, and it likes the 40 grain Winchester solids, but the gophers don't!

    Any Ruger #1 fans here?

I have 2 of them at the moment, Pop. A 25 06 BBZ, with a 6x18 Elite 4000 on it, and a 1B 270 Weatherby magnum, with a 5x15x50 Elite on it. I have sold a 45 70, and a 270 Weatherby in #1's this past year. I have also sold all of my actual weatherby rifles, but, I will take the #1's to the grave...

Anyone try reloader 17 yet in .243 and 25-06?

Haven't tried Re 17. I am using Reloader 22 at the moment, and like the way that it performs in the 25 06 and 270 weatherby mag. As stated by Divernhunter, try IMR 4831. I had excellent results with the 25 06 with it with all bullet weights in both mine and a buddies.
