    325 WSM Experiences

Hey guys! The appropriations committee in my household has recently given me a blank check for a new rifle, and I'm thinking hard about a 325 WSM...not quite sure why. Anyone know anything particularly good or bad about this cartridge? Thanks in advance.

    Gander Mountain & Primers

I can't comment on the Fed primers, but the GM where i live (charleston, wv) doesn't have LR or LRM primers of any flavor...and never have since they opened (about 14 months ago). The GM here in general has everything, but in specifics has absolutely nothing....just my two cents!

    CZ-USA 550 American in 6.5x55 Swede?

sorry 'bout the late reply, but here goes. got one in 7x57 and it is extremely finicky to say the least. the throat is extremely long and very picky in what it will shoot. it likes hornady 139's and speer 145's...and that's it! no nosler of any flavor. i actually am considering having a...

    Loading 7mm MAG

I agree with smoker. Unless you're dead set on IMR, RL22 is more forgiving on pressure. Also, I don't know what type of powder thrower you use, but my RCBS throws 22 alot better than the big extruded powders like 4831. It tends to cut the grains of powder. At any rate, a 150 PT with 64 grns...

    Small Base Dies

your problems may not only be in the dies. a shooting buddy of mine had a similar but more pronounced problem out of a super short mag, and it turned out that the brass was extremely stout. after checking around, that was found to be pretty common. maybe this will help, maybe not. at any...

    7x57 mauser

got one in cz 550. beautiful rifle with around one inch accuracy, only not with a nosler of any flavor. little recoil. very comfortable to shoot. it was mentioned by someone else, and mine too is long throated, but seems to like hornady 139 bt, and speer 145 bt.

Load for 7MM Remington Magnum 15 0 gr Ballistic Tip

not with 4350, but 64 grns of 4831 is lethal. a 140 with 67 grns of RL22 is deadly as well. never tried 4350...sorry.

7RM Loads that work for me

there's really no particular reason for the short seating depth. that's just what i started out doing and it worked. no pressure problems, and accurate. mostly i guess because i was scared of pressure problems at first, and just never changed it after it shot so good.

300 Weatherby and 165gr ballistic tips?

hillbilly, i too hunt the wv hillsides with a high plains rifle...that said, i know this will open a can of worms, but it's been my experience (bad) that a BT is not the right bullet for that kind of velocity...especially inside 100 yards. a partition or accubond will give you much better...

7RM Loads that work for me

i'll throw in my 2 cents as well. 67 grains RL22 140 grn AB WW brass WLRM primers 3.25 COAL not only is this a .5 inch load (Ruger 77) but i shot a doe saturday from brisket to pelvis at 20 yards. bullet retained 95.9 grains of weight...just as advertised. this close shot has scared me...

    BALLISTIC TIP vs PARTITION

i've found no difference in accuracy, but alot of difference in performance on animals. the partition is the only way to go.

head space, bolt problem, and a "shoulder bump"?

here's a somewhat simpler cure...if it applies. not long ago, i had the same problem from a m70 in 30-06. i had several explanations...none of which panned out, but in the end, it appears to have been my fault. while sizing this brass, i used the same lube technique as i use the rest of the...

Looking for a hunting load in 7mm Rem Mag, 140 gr accubond

gotta go with spino. my rifle loves imr 4831, and rl22. the difference is that my rcbs thrower doesn't like long, extruded powder...so i choose the rl22...throws better and seems to be less of a pressure issue. my load is 65.5 grns of rl22 and a 140 AB. as far as the 4831, 64 grains and a...

    question about O.A.L.?????

I won't add to the other 2 comments, because both are right, but to answer why OAL changes between bullets is due to the ogive of the specific bullet...the first place on the outer diameter of the bullet that is actually of caliber. that is to say a bullet that comes to caliber on a faster...

    Magnum primers or L rifle?

well, here's the latest chapter in my saga. the max length listed for a 140 nosler is 3.065. so far, everything that i've loaded has been 3.06, and no combination has worked very well. after trying unsuccesfully with some h414 loads, i decided to measure the throat. much to my surprise, i'm...

    25 WSM pressure problems?

quick question...I bore sighted and shot in a 25 for a friend of mine this evening with factory loads, and in my opinion, this rifle was exhibiting pressure signs that i could not be comfortable with if i had loaded these shells. Flat primers and a very stiff bolt on every shot. Has anyone...

.300 win. mag. Pros & Cons

Nothing that i can add that hasn't been said. You'll have no problems with the belt vs. non-belt. In fact, i like the extra capacity for breathing room. This is just my opinion, but i'm more comfortable with extra case capacity than i am with crunching powder while seating the bullet. That's...

    Magnum primers or L rifle?

sorry it has taken so long to reply, but at any rate here goes...absolutely no luck with RL19 and AB's in this rifle. When i first got the rifle I shot a sub half inch group using hornady 139 and H414 that a buddy had loaded, however, even by matching the velocity i can't get it inside an inch...

Any "Pet Loads" For The 7x57?

You guys have had much better luck than i can attest to with RL19 (in the 7x57). I haven't gotten much inside an inch yet after 3 different loads using AB. I shot a 139 Hornady group using H414 at sub half inch, but haven't gotten close (even with the same velocity) with RL19 and AB's. I...

Accubond workup utilizing Ballistic Tips Question?

300, I do the same as you describe, and have found no flaws with the theory. I will say this though. For whatever reason, the AB flies about 2 inches to the right of the BT or PT point of impact (in my rifles). This is corrected easy enough when the time comes, and I haven't noticed much...
