not only is this a .5 inch load (Ruger 77) but i shot a doe saturday from brisket to pelvis at 20 yards. bullet retained 95.9 grains of weight...just as advertised. this close shot has scared me since i bought a rifle capable of 3300-3400, but after this, no more worries. hope this helps someone.

Is there a mis-print here? I would think that 82 grains of H1000 would be unsafe for you or anyone around you. My book doesn't have H1000 data for 160 grain bullets, but shows 65.5 grains of H1000 as the maximum for 175 grain projectiles.

My load of 72.5 grains with 160's was great. The groups opened up at 73.0 and 73.5 and I stopped there.

Shot 1 whitetail in the neck @ 75yds, no expansion. Shot 1 @ 65yds behind the shoulder both entry and exit, one inch hole going in, and 3" hole coming out. Shot 1 @ 70yds in the leading edge of the front shoulder, and I could wave at myself out of the hole, when I reached up to cut the windpipe. It took a path 4 inches deep and 6 inches high, off the front of this deer(if looking at it broadside). All of these deer were running. The shoulder shot deer ran 25yds, and it looked like a war zone. The other two, went straight down.

Touch not squeeze- Have you cronoed that 140g AB load at an honest 3350fps, or are you just assuming thats what your getting based on some reloading book?? Just curiuos because I find it quite hard to obtain 3300+ with 7 RM's and 140g's w/out getting to high in pressure, or unless you might have a 26" tube. I have a good load with the 140g BTip with 68.5g RL-22 and the OAL is 3.350" SHoots .5" or better at 100 yards and I cronoed the load right at 3250fps and it is on the warm side itself. Couple other loads that work for me so far are,
60.4g Rl-22, 175g SBT, 3.320", 2810fps, .5" or better at 100 yards.
61g Rl-22, 162g AMAX, 3.440", 2900fps, .5" or better at 100 yards.
64g RL-22, 168g VLD, 3.440", 3000fps, .4" or better at 100 yards.
61g Rl-22, 160g AB, 3.370", 2900fps, .75" or better at 100 yards.

Did you chrono your rounds? Tell you what, let me verify my OAL and charge. I am pretty sure I am right, but I don't want to shoot MY mouth off before I post. 1 thing is for sure, in 1970 this M77 was available in a 26" barrel. I will get back to you in the morning with the facts.

Ummmm yes, all my loads have been cronographed at least twice. Once during initial load work up, then again when zeroing. A cronograph is a must for long range shooting, or just working up accurate loads in general, which is what I do, and just another piece of equipment one must have and know how to use!

Well, I don't know what you call it, but I put the foldy thing on that 3 legged thing, and even put the little hats on the little rods, depending on the weather. For the record, Oal IS 3.290, the charge IS RL22 @ 67g, the bullet is 140g AB, the primers ARE Federal 215 Match, MV IS 3350 (max, the string of 80 I ran was 3327-3350 and typically they fell between 3341-3350).
