    Whitetail Deer hunting with 30-06

Europe, can't do, special season and licenses are required. The only time you can "sort of" legally take gator tail is when they get run over and become road kill. Doc, they are interesting animals and do manage to capture your attention on numerous occasions. Before we put our decoys out we...

    Whitetail Deer hunting with 30-06

Billyram, laughed when I saw your comment on chasing deer around in the swamps after dark. When Duck hunting in Florida there are occasions when I have to race the gators to my downed duck and that's almost as good as putting out decoys in the morning when you can't see your nose in front of...

    What am I doing wrong

This is going to sound crazy but if you are using Florescent lights check the scale both near and further away. A while back I read an article regarding how certain lighting elements can change things. Most likely a shot in the dark but give it a try.

    Good Grief

Guy, I agree completely. When someone starts complaining that their favorite hunting rifle is only getting 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards I sit back and roll my eyes. I don't know of any animal that is going to have a problem with that kind of shooting.

    Smith & Wesson M&P AR 15 Rifle

Thanks DWH, I've done some research and found that Tac and H335 are also good powders to use. This should be an interesting experiment.

    Smith & Wesson M&P AR 15 Rifle

Sat down this morning and mounted the base and ring combination and set up The Leupold scope. (Thank god for torque setting equipment) Everything went together great and now, the next item is ammo and a stop at the range. By the way the variable power illuminated reticle has got me spoiled...

    Smith & Wesson M&P AR 15 Rifle

I ended up ordering the Leupold Riflescope pictured on Guy's rifle from Midway. Price was definitely right. The Eotech looked real good at first but further thought indicated that it wouldn't be practical for what I'm going to use the rifle for. I looked all over for a suitable mount and found...

    Smith & Wesson M&P AR 15 Rifle

Guy, looked at the Leupold scope on Midway. Price is right. What base did you use? I was told by a number of AR owners that there are so many ways to set it up that you need to give it a lot of thought and being that I'm not going to be building searching anymore you're set-up looks very...

    Smith & Wesson M&P AR 15 Rifle

Yesterday I went to our local gun show with no intention of purchasing anything than possibly powder or primers if I found a deal. Two hours later I walked out with a S&W AR 15 Rifle. The rifle was run through the S&W performance center and after handling it and finding out what was done to it...

    Huge Montana bull!!

Holy Mackerel, I usually see that type of bull when I'm dreaming about Elk hunting.

    Moose bullet in 30 cal.

Charlie, I agree with you on all counts regarding the .338RUM. Dropped a number of elk with mine and once I pulled the trigger they didn't go anywhere.

    .30-06 vs a couple of 7mm mags...

I entered the Maine woods a couple of years ago with the wind gusting to around 40MPH. After about one minute I turned around and walked back out of the woods. Mother nature was doing one fantastic job of tree trimming and I had no desire to get clobbered or killed with one of her "big" branches.

What are we hunting with this season?

Our Colorado Elk Hunt didn't work out this year because of an unseen issue coming up for my buddy but we'll be heading to Maine in November for our deer hunt so my Rem 700 Titanium in 7-08 will be getting some use. This rifle is deadly accurate with either 140 grain Sierra Game Kings or Nosler...

    Black lives matter kills people

Truck driver, I think you are quite correct. Something is afoot and certain things have been happening that have slowly been pushing us to a bad ending.

    Decent caribou

I have found that once or at the most twice in a lifetime things manage to fall into place and make life a little easier. Good bull.

    The head shot...

My thoughts would be that a shot in the pelvis, as long as it hits the spine will work. I saw one of those back in 1973 (a shot through the lower stomach into the spine) and it dropped him like a sack of potatoes although he was still trying to crawl over to his M1 Carbine. That didn't end well...

    .357 Sig

AFG270, yes I did. The forum website had a problem with my original moniker "bigrifleman" and I switched over to diverdown. The problem however seems to have been corrected so I went back to the original moniker. I have a P226 and I did purchase the extra .40 S&W barrel to go with it. I ran the...

    .357 Sig

I thought I would touch bases with the people that wrote on this forum. I've been reloading the .357 Sig for a while now with 125 grain Ranier bullets and Universal clays. My average velocity for target loads is around 1250FPS which has been pleasant and functions the P226 reliably. My go to...
