My son Chris with the first buck he has ever shot. Taken on our farm 11-18-13. He has hunted for 12 years and it just never "clicked" until now. Shot with a Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 guage. I was so happy for him that he finally scored, and a nice buck at that. Truly something he will remember...
I went to the gun show in Mason, Mich. a few weeks ago and bought a belt from these folks:
jrussellleather.com
They are from Quincy, Mich. and had a great selection.....plus they custom made one for my son and I on the spot.
EDIT* Link didn't work for me......try this one, same guy...
This year I bought a new Ruger Redhawk "Hunter" and carried that with me during Michigan firearrms season, the two seasons before that I carried my SR9.
My son took my grandson out squirrel hunting this afternoon.....my grandson is 4 1/2, and this was his first expierience with hunting.
I have a picture taken about 27 years ago, when my son was about the same age, holding up a squirrel from "our" first hunt together......you can be sure I...
 It's actually his second, but it's been 14 years ago since he got his last/first buck.
The one hanging on the meat pole (good eye!) is an identical 6 pt. buck that my friends 16 year old son shot.
I use to live in Delta County (Garden) and still have family and friends up there...
My oldest son shot his buck on Nov. 16, in Michigans Upper Peninsula.
A little twist to an otherwise ordinary story...he has only been able to shoot one other buck in all his years of whitetail hunting. He's shot does, he's a good hunter and puts in his time...but a buck just seems to allude...
Thanks everyone for the info.
Making a trip with the Mrs. Christmas shopping at Cabelas tomorrow.....looks like I'll be buying some reloading components.
I finally purchased a Ruger Redhawk (Hunter) and need some help in getting some reloading data for it.....powder and grains.....primer.
I want to use a 240 grain bullet. This would be used for whitetail hunting.
Thanks,
Steve
