66gr in my winnie cases and bullet seated at 2.860" is not a compressed load! i would say i could get a couple more gr in there and prob still have space! But i may have a large chamber compared to yours.
Its amazing how different rifle shoot.
Mine clocks 3000fps with 66 rl22. i could get 3200 with mag primers but im after more accuracy than speed. would have been great to have both!
I havent got conclusive vel as yet as im still in the testing stage but when i did test the vel on a couple of rounds it was in the 3100-3200 but not sure what load that they were. I will confirm actual velocity after the 18th! when i will test my final loads.
The thing that effected the accuracy the most was seating depth! mines does not like the bullet anywhere near the lands! Mines at the sammi 2.860"oal
At this oal all loads were under 3/4"
Im using a standard sako 85 270wsm.
My most accurate load is 66gr of rl22 and 150 sst. this produces 1/2" @100 without any real pressure signs. Ive tried from 63-67gr of rl22 but the most accurate as said is 66gr.
I hope you and POP dont mind me chipping in here...

Hi
I have been testing 150sst in my sako wsm.
i have had great accuracy with 65.5-66.5gr of RL22. Groups are 1/2" average @100yrds
velocity is around the 3100fps.
The biggest thing for accuracy is seating depth. the best accuracy is around the sammi 2.860" anything longer noticebly opened...
There were no real signs of pressure at the 66.5gr loads. Slightly flattened primers but not what you would call flattened! if you know what i mean.
May be awhile before i can get to do my next lot of testing! but will be playing with the 3 higher loads and seating the bullets further in...
Well today i managed to try out my first batch of homeloads.
150gr sst RL22 powder col 2.900" Sako 85 .270wsm
i Tried from 64gr to 66.5gr with the 65.5, 66 and 66.5 being noticeably better grouping. I will try these loads seated in by 10 thou and 20 thou more as soon as i can.
I chrono'd the...
my 7 mag shoots the following
63gr IMR4350 150gr Scirroco's
66gr RL22 154gr Interbonds
65gr 4831sc 160gr Accubonds
63gr IMR4350 168gr VLD's
All the above shoot 1/2" - 3/4" groups no problemo!
Just bought a 270wsm but havent had time to test yet! but i have rl22 and rl25 and 150gr sst and...
Hi i have just sold my 7mag and got a Sako 85 270wsm, I have searched but there seems to be very little info on people using the 270wsm with 150gr. Im hoping to get performance as near to the 7mag as i can.
What loads are you guys using? and what velocities are you getting.
Cheers
