I've had a third gen G23 for sometime now. I absolutely love it. It's primarily my home defense weapon but it also serves as my hunting & camping sidearm and is fun at the range. Highly recommended by me!!!
I'm having a hard time getting my hands on the new edition of the Barnes reloading manual. I'm looking for the load data for a 140 gr TSX (non-tipped) with either H4831 or RL19. Anybody have some info?
:?: BTW, when can we expect a .277 E-tip to appease the granola-eating, tree-hugging...
Fortunately they were undersized & I caught them because I went to put the bullet on the case before seating & they fell right inside the case. I was only loading a batch of 20 for testing at the range today so I decided to pull out 20 (actually a total of 24 due to the other undersized bullets...
I tried to create a new post with a picture in it & tried to do it like the sticky with no avail. I even tried to use the code from Photo Bucket to insert a picture into a forum post. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks to Arnold & the tree-huggers (and against the recommendation of the CA DFG) I too have to work up some loads for non-leaded bullets. I just purchased some 140 gr. Barnes TSX for my .270 Win & I must say not too happy about the $35 a box when I can get reliable Accubonds for less than...
So I purchased some 130 gr Nosler CT Ballistic Silver Tips in .277 to try out. After seating a couple of bullets I came across a bullet that was about .257. Thinking it was a fluke since it was a factory sealed box I kept on loading & came across 4 more of these bullets ranging from .250 to...
I missed the first go-round of Noslers at the Cabelas website so I put in on my wishlist & once it told me it was available I ordered it then. Only had to wait about a week after Nosler #6 was released. They have them on the website now & are available.
I've always measured center-to-center as well and have been short-changing myself too. I've found that it actually takes about .015 off your group measuring outside-to-outside & subtracting bullet diameter. I guess that's pretty reasonable (& more accurate) seeing as locating the "true" center...
Thanks guys. I've shot some of the Winchester factory ammo, which seemed to shoot really nicely. I think when I checked the bullet diameter they were loaded with the .311" bullets but I'll have to double check. I've also shot some of the Sellier & Belloit factory ammo (which I think I read...
Just purchased one. Anybody load for MNs & if so, any recommendations on brass, powders, primers & bullets? I think Norma or Lapua for brass (they're the only ones I've found so far) but the rest is pretty much in the air. I plan on using it for a plinking/range rifle & possible a deer rifle...
Give it time & this will be statewide. I would also not be surprised if we will have to start waiting 11 days for our "certified" ammunition purchases as well!
There was an article about this in the paper this weekend & I did not get a chance to read it. Living in California, and in "condor country", I think this is still insane. I am 120% for wildlife/environmental management but like everything else in Calfornia those that enact laws have screwed...
Great question corbin. As the deer season has drawn to a close here in CA I plan on getting some varminting in with my .270 Win during the off-season and wanted to start working up some loads. Anybody have some good starting loads?
I'm fairly new to the reloading scene but I use the RCBS 505 beam scale that came with the supreme master kit. I originally was going to purchase a digital scale but have found the 505 scale extremely accurate & easy to calibrate & use along with the RCBS powder trickler (before the trickler I...
Just one hunting rifle, an M700 CDL manufactured in 1978 & chambered in .270 Win. Excellent for varmints, North American game & the range. I do have to say, I look at everybody elses lists with extreme jealousy. I gotta get my armory started!!!
My first rifle was a Ruger 10-22 that my dad bought at a dirt cheap price. I could shoot dimes all day. My first centerfire was a M700 CDL in 30-06 with a cheesy Bushnell scope I bought at Walmart.
great post. I plan on putting in for a couple of out of state hunts next year & have already started my checklist. I hate when I'm a couple hours away & forget something. I will surely print this post out for reference!
