I want to try the 200gr. AccuBond in my .30-06. I have IMR 4350, Rem 9 1/2 LR primers in Rem brass. My 200gr. Partitions are most accurate with 53.2 gr. of IMR 4831 and yield 2475 fps. I would like similar velocity with the AccuBond. Does anyone have a good starting point or other suggestions? Tks!

Try RL22 in your 30-06 w/ the 200 gr AB.
Max load in RG #6 is 58.0 grs. Start low and work up.

Thanks JD! I'll try it. I just posted a question to a different site. Wondering whether I should tweak the 200 PT, go to a 180 PT or 180 AB. Target is elk and possibly deer.

With what powder.

I have IMR 4350, but will change to whatever is recommended. I am not tied to the 200 - not averse to the 180 PT or AB. I want to maximize velocity and therefore energy while getting accuracy. I just think I can improve on my hunting load.

200gr AccuBond is a long bullet, takes up a lot of case capacity, a max load of h 4831sc behind a 200gr Partition works very well on elk. in the AccuBond with the 30-06 case i would be looking at the 165gr. just a personal thing.

Thanks guys! I made a decision today after speaking with one of the technicians at Nosler. I am going with the 180 AB and RL-19 powder. I'll start at 56.5 gr and top out at 58 gr. and see what prints the best.

I love my 165 PT load, though it and my 200 were originally designed for a different rifle (Howa 1500). That rifle printed the 200 PT at .250" and the 165 PT consistently at .500". Everything else, including factory stuff printed between 1.50" and 2.00". This rifle (SIG), however, eats EVERYTHING! I shot all loads from my old rifle in the SIG and duplicated the groups I fired in 1988! Therefore, I know the SIG is capable of better groups and higher velocities/energy.

I'll let you know after I order, load and test the 180 AB. Thanks and I welcome all comments directed toward perfecting the 180 AB.

What kind of velocities would one expect out of a 22 inch barrel 3006 with 165 grain bullets? Is it as accurate as IMR 4350? If anyone has tried it. I was contemplating working something up.

Corey

Corey - I use a 21" barreled .30-06, and load 165's to a conservative 2750 fps with H4350. I've loaded them hotter, no problem, but this particular load shoots very well for me, with the 165 Nosler Partition, or the 165 Solid Base bullets and it's a bit under max.

Your 22" rifle should deliver similar results.

Regards, Guy

Thanks for the quick response Guy. Where in Washington are you at?

I'm in the Tri-Cities.

I just printed an excellent group with Hornady's 165 SST. Groups were .25" inside and .40" outside. 57.3 gr. of IMR 4350. Hornady's manual lists (as of 1990) 57.4 gr. yielding 2900 fps. I am thinking of trying that charge, plus or minus on my 165 Partitions!

Good shooting sniper208.
2900 fps is a very good velocity for the 165 gr bullet in your 30-06.
Remember to start low and work up.
Let us know how she shoots.

Will do! I am excited about tweaking this load upward. I can get both accuracy and velocity. I've never had a chance to shoot at anything longer that 150 yards. Most of my range time is at 100 yds. Once I get the load worked out, I plan to try it out to 400 yds. (the max this range has). I don't plan to hunt at that distance, but it's nice to let her stretch out her legs and RUN!!!!

That would be nice. I was able to get good velocities with IMR 4350 like you as well. I think it will be the powder for my 3006 now.

i'll prob get flamed for this but i load the 200gn AccuBond in my 30-06 with 54.5 gn of H4350 to get 2625 fps out of my 1903 springfield. I pretty for sure this is over max, but shows little pressure signs and shoots good. On paper this shows lots of enegry and carries well out to 400 yrds. I believe it puts it on par with the 180's at 2800 and should retain more at distance. Havn't killed anything with it yet except steel plates but the season is coming up and i plan to make it my all around killer. Loaded with remington brass and federal match mag primer.

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you have a good load that is safe in your rifle.
Good luck this hunting season.
