2013 Hunting Pictures

OK guys.... I need to see some of those pronghorns. Dont make me post the old pic of mine. I still had hair and was 20 pounds lighter....

Had a great day in the blind! Managed to get 3 Canadian geese and 6 ducks. Lucked out and killed two ducks with one shell. Can't remember the last time that happened to me. Shotgun is a 12 ga Browning BPS with a fixed IC choke given to me for my 17th birthday. It's a very special gun to me and as my only shotgun gets a lot of use on everything including: blue grouse, quail, dove, turkey, geese and duck.

Sounds great, Joe. A great day in the blind allows the cares of the world to drop off for a short while.

EOD, boy am I jealous about the geese! I love my gamebirds and they are the real deal.

Having read the Michener novels especially Chesapeake, I have had a desire to hunt those for a long while.

Thanks for posting the photo.

Glad you guys liked the pic. I was glad those geese fell from my #4s. Hadn't planned on seeing them and only had my duck loads. What a hoot when they come over head! Got to admit that I'm more than a little jealous of you guys headed out for deer and elk. Mama made me swear that I wouldn't take any more time off of work to hunt, so I figured I'd go out for the duck opener vice the muley opener. Got to pick those battles I guess. Maybe I can convince her to let me out for elk a little later on....

Nice! High velocity little rascal isn't it?

I was really tempted to whack a couple of coyotes this past week, but I've got a pretty solid rule about not shooting coyotes while I'm trying to be stealthy and hunt deer...

Soon though...

Good score, Gene. Fine looking buck. Give us a few details.

Agree - Great photo of a fine buck!

wildgene, that is a very fine looking buck indeed. I was sucessful this weekend with a spike whitetail buck Saturday night and whitetail doe this morning. As soon as I download the camera I will post some pictures. Speaking of pictures does anyone know how to get the photos to post smaller so as not to be too big for all to see?

Looking forward to the pictures, most won't be too big just make sure you hit enter before you post each new picture so they stack one on top of the other.

It is not the biggest buck I have ever shot, but it sure will be tender. I guess that I found the sweet spot with my Mod 70 30-06 and OAL 3.330" with the good old NP 180gr. Unfortunately what you are seeing is the entrance slightly behind and went through taking lung. It was a rested 383yd shot at just about dark, and that deer only went 25' from where it was standing. I don't have any pics of my antlerless whitetail that I shot the next day, but that was a head shot 150yds. It would not have made a great picture. My kids are already asking when we can eat sausages. The fun part was running into fresh grizzly bear tracks that day. Here is also a picture of the track that was fresh in the mud, and that is why I use NP 180gr's

Very neat, Nosler06. We find grizzly tracks almost every time we go out; it is always exciting and, in a strange way, very gratifying.

Nice deer, congrats. Yeah it makes for an interesting time when you know grizzlies are in the area which seems to be absolutely everywhere around here. It is a good choice to have a bullet like the 180 gr PT in your 30-06, 383 yards great shot BTW.

Great shooting! Looks like it worked out real well! That should make them kiddo's some great sausage too!

So with a week before rifle season opens I have been Out scouting and still getting into the odd waterfowl shoot. My buddy called me 2 days ago with 2 words green heads... Yesterday we headed out and set up in the rain for a field shoot. Lets just say we were very succsessful and with 5 shooters Ruger got a work out....

His 38 th retrieve of the morning...
