My Ruger Hawkeye in 358Win is not a long range gun, and BC out to 300 yards means pretty much nothing so I decided after reading some comments on the 358Win again last night to actually reduce my powder charge of TAC by 2 grains and go see for myself the accuracy and velocity.

Three shot group at 100yds 225gr AccuBond just a little more accurate than my 2556fps load

I run 2450 with the 225 PT Mike and I love it in my 358! 2500 with a AB would be icing on an already awesome cake. You are right though. Out to 300 nothing stands a fighting chance. Those bullets penetrate like crazy too. I think you would have a hard time ever capturing a 225 from a mere deer!

Great shooting buddy! What a load!

Thanks Scotty, and you are right about the deer, I have never recovered a 225gr AccuBond for anything I have shot with it much less a deer.

That kind of accuracy is certainly worth the loss of 50 fps which you will never see the difference in the field anyway. Great load.

Yes, still hard choice since the load that moves at 2556fps all three are touching each other just not in the same hole.

Very nice shooting.

So many 270 and 30 cal seconds at SPS lately.

Now we need Nosler to blem a larger run of 225 AB in 35 caliber.

Or have a production order be mis-read with an additional zero added to the end.

Nice shooting Mike. Wish I could get more OAL out of my BLR magazine. :x

Man, you and me both! I need some 358 bullets bad!

I have bought 200 hornady 250 gr RN, 200 Speer 250 gr Hot Cor, and 500 Sierra GK 225 gr lately. But would like a couple hundred AB to fill up the bullet bin

Got to love those USPS flat rate boxes. Certainly makes buying bullets easy

yes send them, I have sent you a PM with my address.

It is a shame that Ruger dropped this cartridge and it is not available with Ruger, they stopped a couple of years ago, and dropped them from their line. The 358Win has been a very impressive cartridge in taking game. At this moment, so far, not a single animal I have shot has moved from where they stood.

You do not see that ripple wave move up and back the length of the animal when you hit them with the 358win like you do with some magnum cartridges, but what you see is an animal just fold up like a stack of cards that has been knock down. The animal just collapses in their tracks. Really cool to see.

Let me put it this way, if Nosler chambered one in a M48 TGR, and gave it a magazine long enough like the Ruger Hawkeye, I would go straight to the bank and buy one.

Accurate? Looks to me that you missed the square boxes completely. Better sell that gun to me cheap and fast before these other guys realize you missed the squares and give you a hard time about it. Just trying to help ya out.

Nice shooting. That group is way more than worth dropping back a few FPS.

Bill

On a side note check my post count. I posted on a 358 on my 358th post, too funny.

As I've often noted, the generosity of those frequenting this site is simply breath-taking. It is humbling to witness the consideration demonstrated by so many who hang around here.

I know  . Hey the wife is gone and I can say I caved to peer pressure. Or, I could buy a 358 and mess something of hers up like her flower beds, kind of spreads the anger over a greater area so it's not all directed at my purchase. Don't try this at home but if you do don't blame me for the out come as YMMV with the temper of your wife.
