25-06 vs .243?

Doesn't make it right though Okie. If using a small light weight high vel bullet, IMO a big risk is being taken in injuring larger quarry. Close range and correct shot placement are a must..thin jackets failing to penetrate correctly/at all and you have an injured beast you may have to track for a very long way..maybe you find it & maybe you don't! Cheers ET.

I use calibers in some situations that some may consider too light for the intended game, but I always make sure that I am using a bonded/partitioned type of bullet. I have witnessed several elk shot with a 25-06, but they were using Swift A-frame or Nosler Partition bullets to ensure the bullet would get to the vitals. Deer are much easier to penetrate than an elk, but a jacketed bullet that is engineered for varmints never seems like a good choice.

One of the benefits we have living today instead of even 25 years ago, is the technology that has been developed with modern bullets that give us an opportunity to use flatter shooting, lighter bullets that will do the same thing the big "chuggers" did. I like two holes in all game I shoot!
