I have found a nice load for my 280 AI with the 140 gr AB.
64.0 grs RL22, Nosler brass, and a Federal GM215M primer
gave me a 100 yd 3 shot group measuring .346".
Avg velocity is 3225 fps, ES 13 and SD 6.

Sounds like a great load JD. You know I wished I had a 280 AI w/26" tube. Would superceed 7 RM velocitys and still use less powder. I have to use 68.5g RL-22 w/140g btips to get 3250fps and .5" groups. Anyways, that will be a dynamite deer load. I'll still use my BT's for deer though!

This is what I am talking about! Start looking for a doner action to get a project started.

Wow, JD-
That sounds like an awesome load.
a 7mm rem without the belt!

Since I have a 280AI and a 338RUM, I guess you could say I'm a beltless kind of guy!

JD,

You gonna test it out in Da UP?

Long

Ya, going up da camp, just hope a swamp buck will cooperate. I never even see any horns last year!

I think your loads are a little hot for I believe that 63 grains is about max per NOSLER.

I have been loading 62.5 grains of RL-22 with the 140 grain BT and just love it. Chrony represents 3150 from a Mdl 77 RUGER. Drops Whitetail Deer "where as as is" and nothing more. I have also used the Solid Base and have had great results with that bullet. I like the BT for stranding off large fields and open areas. The Solid Base I use for in the woods or shorter ranges.

What is the opinion of the NOSLER 280 AI BRASS??
Regards,

The Nosler brass is sweet!

I realize the load mentioned is 1 gr over Nosler max, it is safe in my rifle with no pressure signs at all.

I just hope you draw for my area here. We will bust them. Heck if you get bored bring the 338 Rummy! he he Or I can let you use my 416 Bee

Thanks Pop,
All we can do is apply and see what happens.

Got anything bigger than the 416 Bee???
