280AI

Now Leuy or Leica 8)? I am wondering if I can dress up the Leuy with caps and a shade? I know that I can not get them for the Leica as I have already spoke with the distributor here in Canada and also for North America.

Blessings,
Dan

One thing I have already noticed is that it is considerably lighter than my Whelen :) even with the barrel on the AI being 2" longer.

Blessings,
Dan

I can't see the pictures yet Dan, but I know RMR doesn't build ugly rifles, even left handed ones are usually pretty nice! HA!

Dan;
Great looking rifle.
Congratulations. I know you have been anticipating this quite a while.
Looking forward to seeing some groups!

Looks really nice Dan, you went with a 26" barrel? If you have a standard fill stock on your Whelen I could see the Manners coming in lighter. Now how about some range time after it warms up :)

Nice Rig Dan!
Alright, now spill the beans on the build. Give us all the details my friend. I know it has been a long time coming, so congrats again man.
Joe

Very nice Dan.
Like Mike said, the bolt is backwards. Are those duel ghost ring sights?

Congratulations on a beautiful rig. Can't wait to hear how she shoots.

Moi? You accuse moi? Dan! How sharper than a serpent's tooth... Try to help a fellow and I get threats. Alas and alack!

Here are the specs :):
1).Original bill for the barrel states when I had it shipped to me was a PAC-NOR 7mm (9 twist) #4-SSSM but on my new bill it states a 26" #4 Krieger. I am going to have to check this out.
2).Defiance Rebel Thinhorn LH action.
3).LH Timney trigger.
4).Manners EH2 stock with steel rail, glass bedded & 1" Pachmayr pad the stocked finished desert sand.
5).HS Precision LA Mag assembly.
6).Talley Nesika Bay 1" low rings to be swapped for Talley Nesika Bay 30mm Mediums .
7).Action & barrel Cerakoted finished.

Blessings,
Dan

I just called in to Rocky Mountain Rifle and was advised that the barrel they used was the PAC-NOR #4 contour 1:9" twist cut to 26".
Happy,Happy,Happy

I wouldn't have been unhappy with a Kreiger, however.

Here's a picture of Dan's Whelen together with the 280 AI. Note how both of them somehow got the bolt handle turned around. How'd that happen?

Fine pair of rifles, I will be very interested to hear your thoughts on the Manners stock after you shoot it. You can cover a lot of different hunting with those two.

gerry, yes that is exactly why I had this second rifle built for me. I am really leaning on selling 2 of my other centre fires. My 270win in a CDL & my 204 ruger in the 537 American CZ.
With the 35 Whelen & the 280AI I should be able to hunt any game in North America 8).

Blessings,
Dan

Yes they are versatile for sure. I would keep your nice little CZ American though it would be a nice break from the bigger guns and economical to shoot.

gerry my boys both have 223 so I have access to them. I have not shot the 204 for almost 4 years. Might as well see what offers I get  if it isn't high enough it can stay in the safe.

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

I bet she is going to be a shooter.
That is one mighty fine set of irons.

Congrats on a very nice rifle. Just curious if you know the weight? It looks like we may see some normal temps so I will be waiting to see a range report maybe in the next couple weeks. That is if you can get near your bench without a snowblower.
