.300 H&H Model 70.... New chambering

I'm just wishing Winchester would get off their duff and make some left handed rifles.

I'm through waiting for them, too many other good options. Every year they tell us it will be out next year and it never comes.

I'm not quite ready to give up but if a Sako comes along I'll take it.
I posted on Winchester's Facebook page to let them know I'm waiting for a left handed rifle.

Winchester has gone back to the 26 inch tube in the new Sporter's made in .300 H&H. My Pre-64 had a 26 inch and was throwing 165 Partitions at about 3150 fps and about 3050 for 180 gr bullets. I was not even trying to get high velocity, just the best accuracy loads. At 7 lbs., 12 ounces, they are not going to be Mountain Rifles, although that never stopped me!

Yeah, to be honest, I would take one of the Extreme Weather's or maybe an Ultimate Shadow Stainless, and ditch the stock, put a real nice McM or Manner's like stock on it. Be just about the cat's butt for a good 300 Magnum.. Winchester has left us a few options.

I have a LB of Norma MRP on the bench, just waiting on the rifle..

Well, I guess 2981 fps would probably work...

I noticed that too, Kurt. My only worry is that it is a typo, since the .300 Win is not listed in any of those configurations. If it is true, though, it may well be irresistible...

I wondered about that as well.. Seems odd they wouldn't chamber the 300 Win Mag?

Sometimes I have to ask myself if some gun companies even want to make money?

While I like the idea of a classic caliber, to do so at the expense of some tried and true, but newer, calibers is folly.

You may be onto something; no 300WM listed in any of the lists of Model 70s except for the Super Grade and the Alaskan. If it is not a typo, it could be a marketing ploy to generate buzz to see if there was general interest in producing this chambering. Alternatively, as a typo, it would be a cruel hoax.

...cause the .300WM is ashamed to show itself along side the .325 (& .300) WSM, Scotty...

Last week they had the Bob in the FW! Now gone?!?! I'd love to see one or a 280 they need to chamber some real rounds again.

Scotty, Where did you find the MRP? Been wanting to try it in my Weatherby 300mag.

Clarke Bros Gun's in Warrenton. Nice little store and they have a FULL selection of Norma's powders.. Pretty happy about that as I really think MRP will be pretty fun.

I haven't been in there for years. Used to park the rig in the truck stop and risk my life crossing the road to get there.

Well, that's quite a drive for me to pick up some powder. However...
