Thinking of shooting my 06 long range, bullet choice is the 190 SMK..
Have heard and read a lot about RL-17 sounds like it could work..
H4350 would be a choice as well..
Anyone have any ideas on powder or other bullet choices. We are a group that wants
to shoot locally just fun......

I have seen and heard that several 30-06's have reached 2750 fps + with great accuracy with 200 grain Accubonds. Might be a place to start with your 190 SMK's.

I used the Hornady 190 SPBT, but 59.0grs H4831 shot great, not sure of the velocity but I think it was moving along quite nice.

Heath. IN the late 90's I used the same load with the same bullets. 2670 fps was my average.
Great bullet by the way!

Nomad,

I would look at IMR 4831, RL 19, and RL 22. Pop is spot on, you can also use load data for the 200 gr bullets and work up.

Pop, thanks for the info. My chrono died right about the time I worked that load up, it shot good but I never knew the fps.
