308

Have used it in the 30-06 with 150gr, 270Win with 130gr and 6.5x55 using 129 and 140gr. SB6.5 might work in the 308 with heaver bullets as 760 does or similar burn rate powders. Dan.

StaBall6.5 is pretty similar to WW760 so it should be a good option in the 308 with heavy bullets.
FWIW, StaBall 6.5 is excellent in the 375 H&H Mag.

I have been wondering too. Have a 308 load with 178 grain ELD x with reloder 17 that has promise. I get staball 6.5 but can't find reloder powder.

Winchester also makes StaBall Match that is comparable to Varget. That would get my vote.

If I had a custom throated 308 win for 200gr bullets I'd definitely try 6.5 StaBall. It's closer burn rate to imr4831 than H4350. Pretty slow. Hodgdon data gives it top velocity in 300WSM.

That said, it won't hurt to try it with 180gr bullets. Worst case scenario is a quickly heavily fouled barrel, you'd have to stay diligent in thorough bore cleaning.

I looked at some of my 30/06 loads I did last year and the Staball 6.5 and Reloader 17 were very close in velocity and the grain amount was close as well.

I picked up a 1lb of the StaBal when it came out and it was slow. It fell between RL-17 and RL-22.
