I wouldn't use them on elk. My honest opinion, but they aren't even close to the same kinda bullet the 300 PT was. I've seen em separate pretty bad in jugs and If they stick together they expand real wide and I don't believe a 45 caliber bullet needs that sorta expansion. Very accurate, but deer bullets at best in my eyes.

The short answer is no. Will see if I can find what's left of one that was shot in a small Whitetail. Jacket came off of what was very little core found in the deer.

Depends on the impact velocity. I have used them on WT deer with excellent results but would use the PT on elk.
