That looks like a great bullet for deer, fired from either a muzzle loader or the 45-70. 4 jugs is really good penetration for deer too.

Is it a Blackhorn load? No matter what the load, it’s sure haulin the mail.

I can only say that on the buck I took at 125yds, they expanded, as expected, and exited. I have also read that they work well in the 458SOCOM which would yield less velocity at all ranges.

I use them out of my 458 Win Mag at 2950.. They are danged accurate for me as well.

Interesting contrast with this 220 grain Nosler Partition launched at 2380 fps 10 years ago.

7 jugs, and good expansion, though admittedly not as much as the .45 caliber bullet. I only thought of this because of the similarities of bullet weight and velocity.
