6.5/06 or 6.5/284?

See its kinda split, maybe more for the 6.5/06

I have thought of the 6/06 as well..only thing I dont like about this is time at the bench, barrel life bit on short side, and I couldnt use it as a back up big game packing rifle to my already 15# 7-300 win mag.

Im about to start load work for one of these savage LRH in 6.5/284 with 140g AB and H4831sc so ill get a bit of info from it anyway.

Cool, man. Interested in your results.

Based on what you have said, I would go with a 6.5-06 or 6.5-06AI.

I imagine it's all in how you use it... shoot quick strings in matches and let it get heated up, I suppose it'll go relatively quickly. Keep 'er cool and clean you should get pretty good life from it.

+1 to what Kurt said.

I'd go 6.5/06 or 6.5/06 ai. Nothing wrong with the 284 but I'm betting the 06 will have a lot less dicking around to get to feed. Also Wyatt mag box a must and throat it out to get the most of your case capacity
