American Rifleman on the 45-70 Marlin

Keep your eyes open. They pop up every now and again. Sierras or Hornadys make a good load workup Bullet. Nothing wrong with the Hornady either.

Sorry about the pics. I see them but the darned photo stuff just stinks these days.

Is the Hornady as good as the Speer?
Sierra bullets have a reputation for separating jacket and cores. If Hornady is as good as a Speer, I have them at the Academy just down the street, and may go buy them if they are.
I fully understand about the photo thing. Extremely frustrating!

No, the Hornady isn’t as robust as the Speer but it’s better than the Sierra. The Speer 300 is the one to run though and will usually all shoot to the same POI.

Thank you for clarification SJB. I really appreciate it. So, off to find some Speer 300 gr boolits now. Hmmmm!

Thank you Dwh!
Has anyone used H335 with the CCI 250 LR primers combo?
I was looking in a reload manual and found that combo. Just wondering if it's as good as H4198?

Same same in my opinion. H322, H4198, H335, IMR4198 and RL7 will all do the same thing. Great powders.

That's awesome! Thank you SJB!

Is the Speer 350 gr bullet too long for reloading in the Marlin 1895? Or can it work as well?

It’ll work. You’ll just have to really crimp them and I’d use a powder that really fills the case to support the case if you can. H322 and H335 should be good.

Thank you very much SJB! It's all coming together now. But I like the 300 gr Speer the best so far.

LOL Dwh!
That's what we're here for!
Stir those old longing feelings of wanting to shoot your .45-70.
