Antelope success! updated recovered bullets!!!!

Went out today with my buddy Adam 454 (for those who do not know him he is an active member here). This was Adam's first big game hunt ever. 10 minutes into the hunt he put a stalk and nailed this mature buck at 214 yards right in the neck. Great job!

He used a Savage 111F in 7mm rem mag with 160 grain AccuBond bullet at 3000 fps with RL22.

Mine took much longer because my first shot wounded my buck due to me stumbling/while shooting offhand (DUH!) :? .

We chased him all over creation but he would not present a decent shot. Finally after 3-4 miles we caught up with him and I put him down at 304 yards with a head shot (all I was presented with). I was using a Nikon BDC with the circles. I put his head in the second circle (300 yds) and I nailed him in the left eye. This was a 7mm-08 rem with 120 Ballistic tip with RL 15 at 3050 fps.

Honestly Jim this gun drove me nuts. I worked up the load and it did 1.1" at 200 yards. This is the picture. 4 shots at 200 yards.

After 3 days I went out I went with Adam again and re-shot it at 100 to sight in. 2" at 100 yards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


To make a long story short after I TIGHTENED down the rings it shot 1 hole at 100 yards! I guess you're never too old to learn huh.

Had it been a Remington I would have sold it off (sorry could not help it) but being a Savage I knew something was "wrong" and not with the rifle!!!!!!!!!!!

Post mortem update

7mm 120 BT from my 7mm-08 recovered from my antelope......

7mm 160 AccuBond recovered from antelope 7mm rem mag in through the neck found half way down the spine......
